rattle increases...

Post by remusrm »

i notice my car gets progresevly louder. the dash right infront of the wheels inside. the A pillar panels seem like cheap plastic. Also the most stupid rattle is the plastic in the back that covers the spare tire. anyways for fixing this?

Ugh, I know.... My car's truly pathetic when it comes to squeaks, rattles, and the like. Hell, as are MANY of these things... A few good ones here and there, but honestly, I feel we have an alarming number of folks with the same damn rattles... It's sad. GM's "Squeak and rattle task force" needs to take a serious look at these cars, IMHO. That is, if Toyota will let them.

When my car was new it only had the common rattle in the gauges and one in the top center of the dash. I fixed the gauges, although it still rattles sometimes when it's cold and the one in the center of the dash has seemed to have gone away. But, now that I am around 43k miles I have more rattles. There is one somewhere in the passenger side door, either front or rear, it's hard to locate. Then my ceiling makes a slight rattle when the sunroof is open. Oh yeah, and my Magnaflow vibrates against the rear heat shield around 2-3k rpm just slightly only when the engine is cold.

LOL...I can see that conversation now. "What? There are no rattles in *our* parts...you better just fix the rattles in *your* interior!" Mine has an occasional rattle in the rear door on the driver's side, but that's about it. I've been extremely lucky on many counts with my Vibe... very common issues seem to be issues I just don't have or they haven't shown up until a lot later on mine.

lol! Sorry, Toyota, but I'm really not seeing much with GM's name on it, even in the interior. heh Luckily the dash being ripped out and reinstalled did fix some of my rattles, but there are many, many more that are still annoying the hell out of me... And the cool creak, squeak, groan from various interior plastics as I make low speed turns. Blah. This sucks.
