dealers bending over backwards

Post by coratz »

i took delivery of my satalite vibe a little over 3 weeks ago. i can't believe all the mail i have got from the dealer. first week i got a letter from the dealership owner, the second week i got a letter from the service manager, the third week i got this mini survey that is a copy of some of the questions of the gm canada survey i ve been warned about. the dealer is bending over backward to make sure i check off completley satasfied on everything. i had only 2 complaints of the touch up paint used to hide a stone chip on the bumper(done secretly by the dealer) and a scratch on one of the rims. the dealer called me today to say that my first oil change would be free and they would hapily fix these things to my satasfaction. amazing. these thing are very very minor to me but the dealer is taking it as a big thing. is there something about this gm canada survey that is so big it scare the crap otta the dealers? is there some cash reward for a completley satasfied perfect gm survey? maybe its just me for this is my first new new car/wagon . thumbs up to the dealer. what are some of the things the dealer has done for you above and beyond?

The same thing happened to me when I bought my '01 Cavalier. I got about 5 letters from various employees at the dealership urging me to talk to them before I filled out the survey. It was critical that I was Completely Satisfied with the vehicle.Needless to say, I wasn't completely satisfied, sent in the form, and GM called me back in a matter of days to get information. However, their assistance didn't help me out with the problems I had, so I really didn't pressure them because I didn't expect any support on such an overused model. These surveys are very important to dealers as this is really the only way they get rated by GM, from what I was told. Now with my Vibe, I was told verbally about the survey, but no letters. I WAS completely satisfied with my Vibe, so that wasn't a problem for me to indicate so.Check out this site with some info on these surveys:http://www.carbuyingtips.com/car7.htm

I knew my salesman, I bought my last car from him. He personally waxed the car for me before I picked it up. I came in to pick my car up and I looked at the service department and there he was, waxing my car. I know every car that gets sold gets washed and waxed but how often do you see your salesman waxing it.

The GM survey is a very big deal in the eyes of the dealerships. They have to keep above the national average or the GM corporate officials start breathing down their necks. Take it from a fellow salesman at a Pontiac Store we put a huge priority on the satisfaction of the customers. The mnior problems that you experienced could be potentially turn into a bad CSI ( customer service index) and that could mean less bonuses or worse. I am very happy to hear that they are treating you great and in a professional manor. If only all Dealers and salespeople could do this we would get rid of the typical persona of us car people. Congrats on youe new Vibe and the treatment that you are receiving.

I think I must have gotten 5 or 6 letters - thank you card from salesman, thank you letter from new car manager (or something like that), thank you letter from dealer owner, welcome to the service department letter and the GM survey... In fact the salesman went over the survey with us (it is posted in large format on their wall) when I took delivery. I filled that questionnaire out, but I think my boyfriend threw it out before I had a chance to mail it.

In that case no survey is alot better than a bad survey. It helps the average when they get them in, but if they get a bad one it takes several great ones to back to normal.
