Well today I was out washing the car, because its absolutely gorgeous, if you live near detroit you know what i mean. Anyway, I noticed as I did the front bumper that my front tires looked odd, the way the tread went. since I got my vibe in winter, i never really payed any attention to how the wheels looked, nor did i question why i get TERRIBLE traction on the snow. Well, sure enough, I looked at the arrow on the sidewall of the tire and they were on backwards. I know, Iknow I should have seen it earlier, i dont need you to tell me that but i just thought I'd share my moment of idiocy with you. But just goes to show that the dealerships are not always to be trusted when it comes to things like this.
In 1981 I brought my mother's car (Pontiac Phoenix) in to have snow tires put on. In those days 2 snow tires were considered good enough and front wheel drive was not very common yet. I watched the guy mount the 2 tires and put them on the back of the car. Before he lowered it I said to him "Do you notice something missing on the back of my car"? He says "No". I say "There's no differential", long pause, "It's front wheel drive". He grumbled something and switched them.
