Vibe 1zz A/T S/C "stage 2" project

Post by SoCalVibe »

Hey Guys, I've been savin my coin for almost 2 years now and "stage one" of my engine mods is almost done. The supercharger is in, the rest of the "stage 1" project includes Snow Perf. water injection, E.L. Prototype header, Magnaflow catback,& TRD CAI. I have an extra 1zz I picked up from a buddy at a salvage yard and thats what I'm putting together for "stage 2". This is my plan for stage 2: MWR big bore 8.8:1 piston & sleeve kit, MWR valve & spring set, Crower conn rods, Crower Stage 2 FI cams, undersize s/c pulley (hoping for 10psi or better), bigger injectors, Emange, port & polish. Please, you guys that have been down this road, let me vent some of my questions...With some good port work and the MWR valve & spring upgrade, I should be able to realize some higher rpm's, will the Emanage system let me to override the stock rev limiter/shift points (yes, (removed), this is an A/T! )? If not, do we know a system that will?I've been on the boards for awhile and sometimes my head just starts spinning, so, anyone have any input for me on my plan? It's an expensive hobby, so any help from you guys would really keep the wife off my back, hee hee.see, my head is spinning again, I can't remember any more questions.Oh yeah, I read a piece of a thread, on newcelica.org about cam or valve spring retainers on a Crower cam install that werent necessary if keeping the stock RPM's but are recommended if spinning above stock RPM's, anyone know what they were talking about? The parts were about $428.00 if thats a clue, I'll keep looking for it.Thanks guys,Markps, will keep you guys posted, regardless.

I think that you'll need a stand alone ecu for a higher rev limit and an intercooler for higher boost as the effectiveness will be limited by the heat of higher compression. The stock motor and tranny seems to handle 250HP without being built up and you can get there with enough boost without increasing revs. If you're looking for more than you'll also have to start looking at building up the tranny.

i found a place a while backthat does an overnight valve body upgrade for our carsi cant for the lifeof me remember the name of the companythere was also this place that made custom torque converters, i was looking around at that just seeing what could be done in terms of a stall speedthose are 2 ways to go to improve the transmission

I cant find a stand alone ecu that will handle the at trans. intercooling is not really an option for this s/c config, it seems the water injection may help here. notice ive dropped to lower compression pistons.anyone know about these? http://www.dsmtuners.com/parts...d4b93

as of know there is no way to raise the limiter shor of power fc thati know of.and thats not for autos.mabey the upcoming hydra.i would invest in the sping and retainers since your uping the boost anyway as added insurance
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

Hey so cal Vibe, this is exciting...Is this the vortech SC? are you that guy? Before you build your spare motor , you need to get your engine management issues solved. Running the e-mange will work under stock perameters, but if you so much as port your head, you will have problems with the stock ecu. With those lower compression pistons you plan on, and the F/1 cams...I dont think you can run the E-manage anymore. Also, There may be some proplem with plugging in the Power FC stand alone. I am not sure, seems like one of the magazines had problems with using it for their project matrix. Ask MWR when you order parts from them. They have a Shop Vibe over there now, I am sure Matt can help. Your stock tanny is going to have enough issues under stage 1 ..I would let off the throttle when it shifts if it was me. Good Luck!!!
