Injen CAI question for GT owner?

Post by DopeVibeGT »

Ok, I know Lancer posted pictures and instructions (Thanks! They helped much more than the Injen one, not to mention the pictures are clearer. LoL), but I have a question for a GT. The little flap and round part that a vaccum hose is connected to on the factory box. The hose goes to a 'switch' and then 2 more hoses branch off, one going to the 'lid'of the airbox and one going above the TB. Now, there is NO way to reuse this. So, I'm assuming all this junk comes off, and this is where that plug comes into play. Is this correct? This is the only part that has me stumped.

Nevermind guys. Got it on! All I have to say is wow! Just the intake made a difference and the car is also louder. Now, for the Borla exhaust.

Don't ya just LOVE the sound the engine makes when you stomp on the gas! I especially like the sucking noise when you tap on the gas when your cruising around town or parked. I noticed that I get a lot more power when the outside temp is in the 40's. And it feels a tad doggy in the 30's.

Yeah, I noticed the sucking sound too. VERY cool.As for installing it, small hands and patience is a plus. My hands are kinda small, but my patience are short when something doesnt go right. LoLIt was about 39 here, and it seemed fine to me. I couldnt really get on it, since the roads were wet and all I would have managed was tire spin. LoL

Got more of a test run today, and I love this intake! But I do have another question for others who have this intake. When your cruising, and you let off the gas, and the RPM's are around 2500, do you get a 'pop' from the exhaust? It just pops once, and thats it.

Nope, never had a pop or any problems with the car after the CAI install.

Dunno about the intake, but I'm told it is caused by not having enough back pressure in the system, when having a free flowing exhaust. With the right set-up, you can avoid this.

Thats just it, I dont have a low restriction exhaust on yet. And it's not like a V8 when you let off the gas, it makes a bunch of the popping sounds. It's just one pop, barely noticeable.

I have an Injen CAI and Borla exhaust and mine pops sometimes when i let off the gas. I was told this is normal.
