I had a Cosmo CAI on order but it kept getting delayed so I cancelled that order and got one off Ebay for $55.00 shipped. It is a two-piece intake in chrome polish. It took about 2 hours to install (about 4 times longer that the Cosmo Short Ram I had.) I had to loosen the fuse box bolts and the headlight bolts to get it in. I also had to relocate the Hyper Voltage system box. I can definitely notice a difference between the CAI and the SR that I had in there. I would definitely recommend a CAI over a SR to anyone thinking about getting one of them. The CAI has a little higher pitch sound than the SR I had. I may try to deaden the sound just a little just to get it to a lower pitch. The battery was disconnected throughout the whole install. I let it run for 15 so the MAF and ECU could adjust to the new air flow. I turned it off for about 2-3 minutes then started it up again and went for a test drive. Typically, if there is going to be a CEL it will happen after starting and stopping the engine 3-4 times. So I cycled the engine 4 times and have not as of yet received a CEL. The second chance to receive a CEL will be between 200 & 400 miles after the install. Hopefully, all will be good.

What differences (if any) are you seeing between the CAI and Short Ram? Other than the install time. 2 hours is about what it took me to install my Injen CAI, it is a little awkward getting it to fit in that small area where it is supposed to go. But it is all worth it for the sound and HP gain.

From what I can tell, it is definitely worth going with the CAI over the SR. I am noticing that starting off the line is about the same as the SR but more power as the RPMs increase with the CAI. The sound is a little different from the SR. It sounds a little more distant but a little higher pitched. I like the sound better with the CAI. I think the pitch is a little higher with the CAI because the CAI is 2.5" diameter and the SR was 3" diameter.

Wow! After driving it around for a while, the sound of hte CAI has mellowed out enouhg so it sounds perfect now. The MAF and ECU must have still been adjusting to the optimum A/F ratio. Also, I have noticed the acceleration is much smoother now with the CAI vs SR. I love it! Why didn't I do this sooner? I know why, the more mods I do the more experience and confidence I gain with being able to do the mods myself. It is pretty sweet!
