Just Got Our Vibe!

Post by wolfsburg_de »

My wife just bought her brand new '05 Vibe as detailed in this thread:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=15449It's a base '05 Vibe in Platinum with Graphite interior. 5 speed with power package and alloys as the only options. We brought it home tonight, here's some pics: The Vibe in its new home New-style side skirts with free dealer-installed mudflaps Base "130 hp" engine with drive-by-wire (look Ma, no throttle cable!) Tons of different RDS functions in the radioOf course, lots of neat surprise and delight features, but none of these are news to the seasoned Vibe owners here.

Great pics! Thanks for posting.Your car looks almost golden under the lights in the first picture! For a moment or two, I thought it was a new color!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I never realized that two-tone '05's were rare until I did a search here. I believe that our dealer had a few others on the lot. No mod plans for this other than a pet gate (not sure I'm ambitous enough to try the DIY one with the brazed tubing) and a bumper protector. Since this is my wife's car it stays mod-free ... unless I want to make the car payments. My own car is the MINI on the other side of the garage:http://www.ross-tech.net/andy/mini/mymini.html

Nice! Our 42"L x 26"W x 28"H dog crate fits perfectly in the back on the Vibe with the seats folded.

We have a 11-month old, 55-lb. lab/border collie mix (at least that's what we think his recipe is ). Here's a pic of Atticus in my wife's old Tercel: Needless to say, he won't be going in the front seat of the Vibe anytime soon. I've found that the rearmost bottom tie downs in the cargo area work great, combined with his leash and his harness (one of those fleece and webbing arrangements designed to restrain a dog while driving).

Here's Atticus in "the trip is over but I don't want to get out of the car" mode: Here he is in travelling mode (chest harness secured to lower rear tie-downs via his leash):

That is great that you care enough to protect your pet! Most people I see around here allow their pet to stick halfway out the window.. Ever seen a pooch hit the pavement at 45 mph? Not a pretty site

buy the rear bumper protector,, it really saves claw marks from the dogs getting in and out. also the real cargo mat is great for fliping over when traveling with dogs, puke from to many timbits hoses right off.

I'm going to look into DIY for both of those items. Some self-adhesive rubber tread material should work great, cut to fit the shape of the flat part of the bumper. I've seen the factory piece and it looks too small to do much. In the cargo area, I'm going to get a 3'x5' entry rug (loop carpet bonded to rubber backing) and cut it to shape. If it moves around, I'll secure it using some of the tie downs in the cargo slots.
