Did you know?

Post by Lecanard »

I just got my first flat with only 12,000 k’s so I called my dealer and asked if there was any road-hazarded coverage. She advised nope sorry. So I called Goodyear only to find out that I could have purchased coverage through them in the first 1000 ks. So why didn’t the dealer ship advise me of this

Some words to you my friend, some dealers are just dumbasses when it comes to the Vibe. I went to a dealership to check out a S/C and they said that there was no S/C made for the Vibe, when I looked in their catalog in the service department, sure enough, there it was. So, yeah. Some dealerships don't know jack about the Vibe.Inder

not all dealerships are dumb asses just for your information. GM vehicles have a warranty on anything breaking or what not due to a DEFECT. You running over a nail, what not, blowing out a tire from something NOT caused by a defect in the tire. NO warranty. SOME dealerships offer a tire road hazard warranty at an extra cost WHICH is onyl good at THAT dealership. Just because GOODYEAR says they have a tire road hazard warranty, means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING when it comes to the Goodyear tires that came STOCK with your Vibe. In this case, your dealership was 100% correct. Why would they tell you that you could call goodyear to get a road hazard warranty before 1000k? Did you ask them about tire warranty when you took the keys? Thats like you being a Wal-Mart employee pushing carts for a living. You going to tell every customer you see walking out with a Sony TV to call Sony when they get home and purchase a life time warranty on that new TV of theirs? I would bet not.

Discount Tire will sell replacement certificates for OEM tires - they'll replace the tire if they can't fix it. This included road hazards. My cost was $15 per tire (Goodyears). I've gotten this on tires I've bought at discount in the past, and it paid off. Plus you can go to any DT, not just where you got the certifs.

Mavrik You missing the point. GM should have placed a card or a note in the warranty book advising that you have other warranties available from a third party.

I'll happily accept information that other car makers do this. Mazda, Honda, Dodge? Really why would they let you know about ways you can spend your money with someone else? Ok so you buy the Goodyear tire road hazard warranty... then what. You get a flat... I can bet no garage or dealership in the area is even going to honor that warranty. I know the dealership I worked at wouldn't. How would we? Its not like we'd have access to them, can order you another tire, send them the bill? Probably only good at certain tire places, most likely you would not be around when you had a flat. It would be like buying a set of goodyears at Wal-Mart and expecting Canadian Tire to honor the roadhazard warranty or some other tire place.

I have never had a dlr approach me on tire road hazard when buying a new vehicle. In fact, I had assumed that was only something for tires when I bought replacements. Never would have thought the dlr was to inform me of the optional protection. Makes sense if most dlrs either do not know or want to offer it. I do not fault the dlrs...I can tell you though you will start to see more GM dlrs selling tires in the future and at competitive prices. GM is directing us to for the dlrs. We are working on selling tire equipment to them so you will probably see more dlrs telling you about tire road hazard options in the future.

Well any set of tires you buy from the dealer will have road hazard warranty in most cases but check with them first. I know the dealership I worked at had it for a while until it got discontinued in 2003 which at that time we were told by our tire suppliers there was no more programs. At least not offered through the dealership but for all I know, that could have been Parts doing that since tire warranty goes through them when it comes to any tire purchase even if service puts the tire on. I think if GM wants back that large market share of customer pay parts and labour thats going to other businesses, they need to step back from advertising their own awsome work and focus more on the reason people go elsewhere. GM parts are just to expensive.
