Changing my continentals...Kumho ECSTA 716 ?

Hey guys,I'm getting new tires for my GT. I commute 70 highway miles daily to work. I live in Jersey and need something I can use year round. Are the Kumhos a good choice? I am not looking to spend a lot of money.I got 40K miles out of two of my 4 continental tires. I popped one on a corner and the second was full of bumps. I was never very happy with them especially in the rain and snow. Let's Poll!

I just replaced my tires on my base Vibe with Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 (VR rated). I also upped the width to 225/50-16. I am very pleased. These should also fit your GT if you have the 16" rims.I had two concerns going with the slightly wider tire: possible tire rub and possible mpg loss. Bridgestone G009's. Awesome all-around sporty tire. Check the ratings at tirerack.com!!Ecsta's are ok, but don't have a long treadlife....40K is average.

You can't go wrong with any Kumho tire!They're not for snow use, though...unless you go for their all-season models. My advice -- get a great summer tire, and a great winter tire, instead of one that does fair in both. That's what I did. I run Kumho Ecsta 712's in the non-snowy months, and Green Diamond Icelanders in the winter.Welcome aboard, you live right around the corner from me!

I have the Kuhmo Ecsta ASX high performance all season tires. I've had them on for about 12k miles now and they have been great. I wanted something that I could keep on year round and use in the winters we have here in northern VA. I don't know how your winters are in NJ, probably worse than here. I think they perform better in the snow than my stock Continentals did and the also are great for dry traction. Tread wear seems to be better than the stock Continentals which only lasted ~30k miles. I'm not a racer or into auto crossing, but for my fun driving I do, I've been very happy with my ASX's. They were only $101 each at tirerack.com.
