Brake vibration/noise

Post by Pawel »

Hi all. I got quick question for fellow Vibe drivers. My rear right disc brake makes this kind of scary sound and vibrates a little. What's really interesting about this is that it only happens when it's raining hard (or when I come off a highway and the disc is wet). Does this happen to anyone of you?

That's funny........I just noticed that this weekend when I was driving in the pouring rain.Unlike the the shudder that you feel in the brake pedal when the ABS kicks in, this was more like a scraping or grinding feel and noise. The next day when it was dry........nothing. My brakes were fine....no noise.....no vibration........nothing.What's the deal?

My cavalier always had brakes that sort of "groaned" when they were damp or wet.

MrMke, I have exactly same thing as you... scraping or grinding feel and noise. I went to the dealer today and made an appoitment to have this checked out.

I don't mean to scare you but, there was a recall on the rear hub bolts on some Vibes because they are far too loose. Heres all the recalls, from N.Simkins post here.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1545

I haven't had that problem---yet. I've been out in the pouring rain, car loaded, unloaded and everything, no brake problems.

Now I'm waiting for it to rain, although I really don't want to experience that noise again.
