I'd LOVE to be able to do that to my car. It seems that you guys all live over on the east side of the state. I guess that over there they don't enforce it like they do here. I think every single one of my friends who has put any tint on their windows around here has been stopped at least once and slapped with the fine. One kid I know got stopped and fined 3 TIMES IN ONE WEEK! That's friggin' ridiculous! He had to pay almost $400 in fines in only one week. I hate the power hungry cops around here. A few of my friends even told me that they were stopped and the cops demanded that everyone get out of the car and asked to search it. Being scared and with nothing to hide they let the cops search. In each case, they were only charged with the window tint and that was the only cause for stopping them by the cops own admission. They had the interiors of their cars completely ripped apart and all their stuff thrown everywhere. They were basically treated as if they were already convicted of being international drug lords. So the cops made a mess on the side of the road emptying out the entire car, trunk, glovebox, and all, then told the owner of the car that they had to clean everything up or face a fine for littering! What a bunch of B.S.!!! I would have wanted to kill the jerks! They are just trying to intimidate people from tinting their windows, like its some major federal offense. Anyone who drives through the municipality of Mt. Lebanon in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh should beware of the particularly nasty, belligerent, biased, nosy police force employed there. They are the biggest bunch of power hungry jerks that get a big kick out of harrassing people and then BRAGGING about it to other officers! And the magistrate system in PA sucks royally. It is a total joke kangaroo court system where the police literally ALWAYS win. One time when fighting a speeding ticket, the magistrate (Thomas Torkowski, the jerk) stopped all rational proceedings to sit there and make fun of me so the dozen or so uniformed police officers in the back of the room laughed like a bunch of jackals the whole time and prevented any form of trial, hearing, or justice from taking place. Also, I just read in the local papers a few months ago that the magistrate with jurisdiction over the same Mt. Lebanon mentioned earlier was forced to resign for being drunk on the bench too many times! What the hell is that! The magistrate can rule while drunk on the bench for years but I can't tint my friggin' car windows without being treated like a criminal. I just wanted to know if anyone actually knew something about the law here with regard to window tint and how it was applied. I'd hate to tint my windows, hire a lawyer to fight the jerks all the time and lose and have to remove the tint anyway after all the hassle. One other major gripe of mine about this state's laws is regarding emissions testing requirements. According to the state's own laws, a state law must be applied and enforced equally over EVERY citizen of the state. Yet emissions testing is required only in the counties containing and immediately surrounding the cities of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Why? This is illegal! It must apply to every citizen of this state or none at all. I have yet to hear a reasonable, legal reason for this. This really burns me even more because I truly belive that all this depleating the ozone with greenhouse gases crap and global warming due to petroleum usage is based totally on false science and doctored reports to create a new segment of the economy. (I have to refer those who disagree or don't believe me to the studies and research done for years by the CATO Institute that is only now starting to get some attention--see cato.org for all the info, specificly
http://www.cato.org/pubs/regulation/reg15n2j.html ). The true information is eye opening.
