NoS, and other mods

Post by WickidWeazel »

Hi everyone i'm new to the forums, i just bought a 03 Vibe GT and i have to say it's a quick little thing, but i want some more umph if you know what i mean...i was thinking about throwing NoS on it, a CAI from Injen, and i really want a turbocharger but from what i've been reading thats a bit expensive right now, so i found something called a turbonator, it's supposed to spin the air and force it into the engine harder and colder and it fits on the CAI, are there any other engine mods you guys could suggest, anything would be great! thanx

That turbonator is crap. You're best bet, for now, is I/E + Unichip + NOS...that's about it unless you can drop $4k-$5k on turbo+install. EDIT: I forgot about TPR's 2zz cam: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=14583

I'm new to the tuning aspect, so what is a I/E and how much does that run? and the unichip what does that run and what kind of gains could i expect from having the I/E+Unichip and NoS? thanx again

I/E is Intake and Exhaust. Someone else will have to fill you in on the prices. I'm not real up on them myself.

http://www.ptuning.comThey have a good selection of intakes and exhausts. A few other little accessories as well. Might not be the best prices you can get, but I ordered my intake from them and was very impressed with the service.

http://www.Performancepeddler.com has the magnaflow catback exhaust listed at $330 + free shipping for us genvibe members. In the box on their site for wholesale code, or something like that, enter matrixvibe and they knock listed prices down to the $330. It's like $60 bucks off. Ptunning was good on the CAI, I love my Injen.

I've been looking into it a little and have read a few interesting posts, i found that i can fit a Turbonetics Turbochrager kit under the hood of my GT, BUT i would only be able to run up to 11 psi on the stock internals, safely that is. I might look into getting this because i want to put the Turbo on my car. And i think if i end up doing that i will put an intercooler on it to keep my internal temp. down. If anyones got any sugg. please put in your 2 cents!! lol thanx

First you should find out how much money you're willing to throw down. Some aftermarket products really hit the bank hard.

Nice to see someone so determined to get power My friend Dima and I are getting a CryO2 system in the summer. We are goingot install purge valves in the wheel wells like Nitrous so it looks like we've got the real thing and also put it in a NX bottle. This will give us about 5 extra horse power as well as look sweet

When you get it done Merz take a picture of the purge in action Oy, I still gotta wait another year and 4 monthes (warranty expires Jan 06 + time till summer) till I can throw down my cash bags and get some sweet power to the wheelsBtw, on a random note, I thought I should mention that unlike what had previously been thought the tranny for the GT won't sheer above 280 hp. According to MWR (Monkeywrench Racing) they said that they had no problems with the trannies after they installed LSD's and new clutch/flywheel combos (even on their 1/2zz's running about 300 hp +)

I noticed on their website, they list the TRD CAI. Is this any different from an INJEN CAI? Who did yall go through to get yours and how much do they run? Thanks. J

When Devlop got his turbo he sold me his Cosmo CAI for $75. New hte Cosmo runs about $115-130. It was a tight fit and had to make a tiny dent int eh tube to fit behind hte headlight. It's not a big deal considering it's about $100 cheaper than the Injen and AEM but if you don't want to screw with fitment just buy the Injen or AEM.

AEM is a good company for CAI's, fuel delivery, and cam gears.
