This would've been serious competition for the Corvette. The 1954 Oldsmobile F88 concept car featured a V8 and Hydramatic transmission. In comparison, the 1953 Corvette had an inline 6 and PowerGlide...Link to full story, broadband video & more pics -->http://autos.msn.com/advice/ar...70711

That is really neat! It really hacks me off, though, that so many show cars have been destroyed. I know the auto business is a business, but these cars can be considered works of styling and engineering art as well. They should be preserved for their historical significance just as any painting or sculpture with artistic merit should be preserved.According to this news story, the Oldsmobile managment disobeyed a direct order to destroy this car, and we owe them our thanks for their vision and courage.

I saw that car go across. 3 mill to a colorado museum. It's sort of based off the corvette. What gets me about the auction is that a stock 70 Chevelle LS6 convert and a hemi superbird both wen tfor 300k. That just drives up the prices of the cars for the common person. I'll never be able to get a 70 Chevlle/Mlaibu, regardless if it's a big block car, since every yahoo will want 10k for it regardless of how much rust is on it.

Amazing piece of automotive history! Nice car and I like it. 1955 was the first year V8 Corvette and yes, this car would has stole the Vette thunder if built!Sad that it even had to be auctioned off since GM has a Cadillac museum right behind my office. Not open to the public and I have been twice, rare stuff in there and everything runs and is run! Buick should have the same since it is an old division.

I am not a fan of the design of cars from in and around the 50s, but I gotta say, that is pretty damn cool!

I don't know if that site only deals with California listings, but give it a shot. Personally, I prefer the 1967 Chevelle.
