Thinking of moving the family into the suburbs in a new planned community. Will take a trip this weekend and only can go to one place.Tucson or Phoenix?

Tucson is MUCH cooler than Phoenix, especially when the sun goes down in summer. I think it has to do with the elevation. The downside to Tucson is that it is a rather boring town, except right around the U of Arizona. There are definitely more things to do in Phoenix.
I lived in Phoenix for just under 20 years, it was great at first. I had grown up in a small town with very little entertainment and there was always something to do in Phx. unfortunetly it is a victim of it's own sucsess. The traffic is really bad now, especial during "Snowbird" season. I now live in another small town (50 miles NW of PHX) and come to apprciate the quite.

Was stationed down at Fort Huachuca for a few years. We liked Tucson better. Phoenix was just too crowded and way too hot! Tucson gets hot also, but cools down a lot in the evenings.

A lot of San Diegans are moving to Phoenix. A friend of ours, a friend of theirs, a bunch of my wifes family, have/are all moving from San Diego to Phoenix.
