done this twice so faruphill, cruise on...say 75-80mphit will just stopthe cruise just disengageshave to re-set italsowhen in 3rd, with OD off, i press the OD butten, and the engine revs up a few hundred RPM mabye 2-3 hundred rpm before shifting into ODi know this is the tranny shifting...but does anyone else with an auto expirence the same thing?
It's wierd that the cruise would just disengage, but as I don't have an automatic..I can't say for sure if that's unusual for the car..

That would happen all the time with my GT when I would pull a steep hill and the engine couldn't pull the car in the current gear. The car would start to slow and once it had slowed more than 5 MPH from my set speed, the cruise would cut out. But as I say, that was a GT and a manual tranny. I would think the auto would know to downshift and keep going. Maybe not.
It's a safety measure. If the car slows down significantly, it senses you're going up a hill...if the hill is too steep, you shouldn't be in cruise, and it disengages to prevent accidental loss of control. You can keep it from disengaging by just giving it an extra push wtih the pedal. As to the OD, that is normal.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
Tecton, just in case you read this before you get my IM's - I gave you the links to my previous posts on the catalytic converter issues. My cruise control did a similar thing when my catalytic converter was causing the car to downshift. I was told that this was the intended operation of the car - if it slows down more than about 25 km/h (15 MPH) below the cruise set point, it disengages. Now, the question I have is this: is the car slowing down that much because it's a really really steep hill, or is there another cause (like you have a faulty catalytic converter)?
