I hate java. Love to drink it, have no desire to program with it.

I've a little experience with Java. One thing you'll notice is that it is similar to HTML but very case sensitive.Inder

Seriously? You find Java similar to HTML? Or are you talking javascript? I don't find java anything like HTML.

Yes. I have used it quite a bit. It is quite easy to pick up, really. As for the comparison between it and HTML, they're actually two completely different items. Writing HTML is not, by definition programming. It's merely placing tags in order to format text and images on a page. It's more akin to writing a document in Word.Javascript is a programming language used to create interactive items on webpages.*Note, I'm not picking on anyone with the above comment, merely seeking to eliminate potential confusion.

My understanding is javascript is a bit like VBscript, which is a bit like VB...I remember learning VB a few years ago (can't remember jack now), but it was somewhat easy to manage, yet confusing at the same time...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

I used to do a lot of work in VBScript (primarily ASP using VBScript) until I realized that my client-side scripts were not working on other platforms and even failing on some non-Microsoft browsers within Windows. At that point, I moved to Javascript and Perl.VB is a very simple language compared to some. It can also be quite powerful and do some really neat things. I still like to use it, but the reliance on Windows is frustrating. Many of the people I code for aren't using Microsoft products.
