Find the Vibe

Post by Mr. Poopypants »

I have successfully snuck my Vibe into our corporate website. Check it out http://www.kingsfamily.com/loc....htmlIt does make it a little easier that I build and maintain the website.

What connection are you viewing it over? Our connection out is a little slow.

Don't know, it's here at work for the Navy, so pretty fast whatever it is. As fast or faster than a cable connection.

Neither, The location isn't open yet and I had a TON of equipment to unload, so I just parked there.BTW, if you get an error on the page when clicking on the links, it's fixed, I have to wait for our site to update. The page with the picture will come up though.

Hey Senor Poopy: You may want to scale the images down a tad, I do believe that's where the sluggishness is coming from... Looks like they're 1600x1200 resolution, ~300K each... Scale 'em down, that'll fix it... mmm hmm...

Yep...that's it. The rest of the site loads quick. If you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, try using the "save for web" feature and reduce the size and image quality, rather than using full quality images and reducing them in size with HTML tags. It won't make a difference in how it's viewed, but it will make a drastic difference in load time.

I'll have to scale them down a bit. I did already scale them down some. One of the problems is our upload speed. We have our IIS server uploading on a standard household cable modem. We are too cheap to use a business line with a faster upload. I'll do it but not now, monday morning is always busy and I am the only one here.

The quality reduction in Photoshop makes a drastic difference and would really help a lot. You can probably get the pix down to about 20KB apiece, then the upload speed won't matter as much.

Yeah, I will do this today or tomorrow. I'm just all alone here in the IT dept today so I am the first last and only line of defense.
