Cosmo S.R. Installed

Post by BlueCrush »

Well, I just finished with my test drive after installing the Cosmo Racing Short Ram Air Intake. It sounds awesome. It was a very easy install except for one missing hose clamp, which I had to make a run up to Checker Auto Parts to get. It took about 45 Minutes total to install without the trip to the parts store. There were no fitment problems whatsoever. I let it idle for about 20 minutes before taking the test drive. No CEL as of yet. Hopefully I will not have one at all. I know that for some it took up to 200-400 miles before getting a CEL. I will keep my fingers crossed. I only had to disconnect the Mass Air Flow Sensor and the vacuum hose from the stock air box and reconnect the to the new intake. It was much simpler than I thought it was going to be.Here is a pick of the completed install:

Extra what? I am assuming you are talking about one of 2 things. Either the smog pump hose or the front VSV. I did not have either of those hoses to deal with. Just the MAF Sensor and the Vacuum hose attached to the stock air box. I think they got rid of the front VSV on the 2005 Models and I thought I read somewhere on this forum that the smog pump is only on the GT models or maybe it is a regional thing.

Thanks. The install wouldn't have gone as well if it hadn't been for other's information and experience on this forum.

What do these "Ground and Voltage" systems do for your vehicle? Does it make any real difference or is it just cosmetic?

They decrease the resistance thru-out all of the electronic systems in your vehicle. In turn creating more power. I will give you my actual results after I install and test drive my Vibe.

Were they a pain to install? Or is it a strait foward common sense deal?

I have the filter that came with the Cosmo Short Ram. It is pretty tight in there. It's not touching anything else. There is about 1/2" space all around before it would hit anything. I wouldn't want any less because it does move around a little bit.Oh, yeah and the smog pump is only on the DBW models.

I attached the filter to the intake before attaching the intake to the throttle body. I found it was easier that way for me to get the best fit.

Thanks for your help.I installed a uni-filter, it is foam oil penetrated filter that will stop 100% of the dirt. Amsoil did not carry the right size filter.I will attach a picture. Thanks again p.s. it still flows the same amount of air
