XM Display: programmable?

Post by sfarias »

I like to glance at my radio to see the time. As I usually have the radio on, this means the radio has to display the time while playing. This is not a problem with regular AM-FM radio, but on XM Radio, you have to push the Recall button to display the time, which is inconvenient and could e dangerous in rushour traffic. Has anyone figured out how to program the XM radio to display the time all the time. i have used RDS-capable car radio that display the artist/song info in a scrolling banner continuosly and a former FOrd I had gave you the option of permamnent display of time or station info.Sam

No XM here, so this is just a guess... Have you tried hitting RCL to bring the time back up, then pushing and holding RCL?That works with mine (std. single disc) when you want to display something different (i.e. call letters on RDS as opposed to freq. for the radio, elapsed time instead of track number on cd...)

Thanks, that did the trick - I thought I already had tried that. It now stays displaying whatever is displayed at the time I hold down the recall button, including the time. Now if I could just get it to scroll the station/song/artist, or at least show the full name of the artist (instead of just first or last name, or whatever fits in one line). Oh well, at least I got the time to display, which is what I wnated. Thanks.

Very cool that trick worked for you! Not sure what to tell you about the scrolling song title stuff though. Does it scroll with the INFO button? Not sure if you could hold that one down to get the same thing to happen there. At least we got your clock there all the time! That's a start.
