WORST Thanksgiving!!

Well this Thanksgiving sucked... I do have so much to be thankful for, but here is what happened...Wednesday night I return home from work shortly after 9pm. At about 9:45 pm the buzzer in the hallway of my apartment are sounding.I immedialty dial 911 and evacuate with my wife.The third fire in 3 months just struck my building of the same complex. spent the night at a Red Cross Shelter. The fire started in someone elses unit. Fire dept. called it an accidental greese fire while the person steped away. Smoke damage was extensive to the rest of the building.Thank God We are fine and everyone got out safely.So we are now moving to another apartment across town.

Sorry to hear that and it really sucks! You do have renters insurance right?Something similar happend to me when I was in an apartment. The buildings were joined with a cement fire wall and the building attached to mine caught on fire! The boiler blew up and caused it! I was not home at the time, came home to a burned out ajoining building. Luckily my building was fine just no heat for a week. Anyway enough about me, glad you and your wife are OK. 3rd fire! Yikes! Move is right!

While the landlord wasn't there for the third fire, the article you posted states that the building is under stress due to the age and number of people there. It sounds to me like you might have a good case for getting out of your lease. I don't know what the laws are in your state, but most of the states I have lived in, three fires and having problems with the building being under stress would do it.
