Crossbars on 04 Vibe

Post by dolfnchk »

Does anyone know how to take off the crossbars on the roof rack of the 04 Vibe? Or is it even possible? I unscrewed them but that only makes it so you can adjust them back and forth, but could not figure out if can take them off. Looked in Manual, of course says nothing.

They're *technically* not supposed to be removed. But, it's doable.See here:http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...#9498Scroll down a bit, look for the post from NovaResource

One PS to that thread: Before I replaced my covers, I greased the little "christmas tree" barbs, so they would be easier to remove if I wanted to re-install the bars.

Even though taking them off involves pulling the end caps off, be careful. I took mine off in the winter so the plastic was brittle and the brackets inside the caps broke, even though they stay attatched without the clips, I still know it is broken lol.
