I bought these in July for my birthday present to my self and I finally just got the rear on installed it took like 5 minutes but I had to take it to my buddies garage so he could get a air drive on it to brake it loose, the front took me 3 days to do by myself beacause I ran into a problem lining up the screw holes by myself and then we ended up stripping out the on hole and I had to re tap the threads. Does anyone else have these done and if so have you had any problems with the front bar rubbing the drive shaft on the passenger side?I will post pics very soon!!!
Quote, originally posted by damronjr »...why was it so hard to install them? The rear is a breeze to install. All it takes is 2 bolts and a strong arm and sometimes a leg. The front sway requires you to take apart suspension and steering crossmembers which will screw up your alignment and possibly mess up your steering if done improperly. Lining up the holes is hard because you have the weight of the front suspension system throwing the alignment off.
I got mine through Summit racing and I had told them the price that Nopi offered and they gave them to me for a buck cheaper and the had free shipping!! The front was very hard because you need either a lift or someone to help you so the can hold the support brackets under the front because you have to remove all the under carriage and then drop the drive shafts off so the bar fits between them, It would be bad like I said as long as you have help and don't try it by yourself!!
Here's a step by step with pics of a front bar install:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=3790I didn't have any problem with it rubbing the driveshaft. When the car is jacked up, it did come close, but when you lowered it, it was fine. The step in my install which says to remove the lower 3 support bolts on each side on the spindle isn't really required. It says to do that in the Hotchkis instructions, but I found it wasn't really required. I removed my Hotchkis and re-installed the stock bar that way, and we didn't remove those bolts when we installed it on Triton's car.
