BAD Accident in the Vibe (pictures)

Post by GonzagaVIBE_03 »

I have not posted here for a long time, but I thought I would show you guys how my vibe held up when it was t boned by a GMC Jimmy at 30 mph. Needless to say, there was significant damage, but luckily no one was seriously injured. My side airbags did not deploy which was a surprise.Anyway, here are some pictures if you want to see the damage:http://www.cardomain.com/id/guvibeman

Glad you are OK... Is insurance fixing the car or are you getting another? The side bags my not have gone off since it may not have detected that hard of a hit i.e. the door glass did not even break. Plus they are for the front driver and pass I believe, at least on my PT they are. I am not an expert, just a theory.Similar, when I worked for GM lots of people could not understand why when they rolled their SUV's the air bags did not blow. The reason was because the front end of the SUV was undamaged, thus the sensors did not crush and deploy the bags. If your side bag did deploy it would cost even more to fix.

How did it happen?you said nobody was "seriously injured" what injuries were there? be on the lookout for health issues that may not be immediately apparent.sucks about the car, but it can be fixed or replaced, glad everyone will be OK.

Glad to hear that no one got seriously injured. And insurance should cover it if it wasn't your fault. Inder

Side airbags are located for the driver and passanger (front seats) and since the impact was behind the driver and perhaps with not enough force, thats why the bags did not go off. But its good no one was hurt, to bad for the Vibe though

I don't know yet if my insurance is going to total the car or try to fix it. I really hope that they total it because I would hate to have a car that has had significant damage (Kills resale thanks to Carfax).I have really good insurance and complete coverage. The accident, by law, was my fault. The lady driving the Jimmy changed lanes abruptly while I was travelling across the intersection. But technically, I did not have the right of way, so I was said to be at fault. The only injuries were bad bruising and neck/back discomfort, but no major or serious injuries like broken bones. Just a lot of aches and pains.

"The accident, by law, was my fault. The lady driving the Jimmy changed lanes abruptly while I was travelling across the intersection. But technically, I did not have the right of way, so I was said to be at fault."Unless the cop was puling my chain (can they do that? lol), I got a warning one time for changing lanes within 300' of an intersection. Since then I never change lanes in or near an intersection. Maybe your state has something like that but the lady has connections Glad no one was hurt bad! Like everyone else said, keep on top of the health thing you never know what might crop up in a week, a month, 6 months....
