Brakes Creaking???

Post by vibe-04 »

My break peddle is creaking, not the peddle itself but somwhere down by the peddle. I've lubed all the joints (and so did the dealer) but it is still there. It only happens under braking load and not at a full stop. I feel it through the peddle as I apply. It doesn't happen all the time, about 70 percent.I'll look again to see what it could be but I'm thinking of taking it back to the dealer. Any thoughts?Andrew2004 stock Shadow VIBE no ABS. Does it happen when your brakes are wet? Because that can cause a problem.Inder

No, it happens at any weather condition. The creak is not comming from front or back but right at the brake peddle. I'm taking it to the dealer which is a pain because of their location and my work (shuttles suck). I've lubed everything and it only happens when braking while driving. It bugs me becuase my Vibe is four months old!A

Thanks, I read through the posts but nothing seemed to match my condition. I did some further testing today and found someting interesting. The creak occurs at the peddle when I drive but not when stopped. So I drove slowly, then used the parking brake to come to a complete stop. I then put my foot down it creaked on the first pump then not after. This was at a complete stop. What the heck is this thing?I'm sticking my head back under the steering column tonight!A

Just got word from the dealer that the master cylinder's bolts were loose against the firewall and needed to be tightened. Hence, it creaked. The first time I took it in they lubbed up the linkage which just made a mess. A
