Hey Folks,I have a 2004 Vibe which was purchased brand new in May, 2004 and have had many problems with it.-1 water leak on the roof at the front of the car near the A pillar driver side. (Fixed)-1 water leak at the rear of the car just over the window on the driver side. (Dealer tried to fix, but had troubles reproducing)-The regular squeeks coming from the instrument panel, stereo, middle of the dash and glove box. Seems like many Vibe owners have these-Stereo will not memorize my bass and treble settingsThe list goes on and on. I'm sad that my New Vibe is demonstrating problems of a 10 year old car. To make matters worse, I have had problems with the level of service at many GM dealerships. They damaged my car when trying to fix stuff, they say they can't hear the noises that I complain about, when all of my friends and relatives can, etc. Well, I've been having another problem that the service guys "could not reproduce" even though I can every time. I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and could provide input. On days (warm or cold) when the air conditioner is used, I can hear a strange Whirring noise coming from the engine compartment. It immediately disappears when the A/C has been turned off. The noise isn't always there when the AC is on. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it is not. However, you can reproduce the sound almost every time the A/C is on. You could be driving for a while then the whirring noise starts again. Others in the car often ask me "hey man, what's wrong with your car?" I say... lots of stuff.I've driven other Vibes and have not heard the noise. Any body hear of this problem and managed to get it fixed? I've also experienced a kind of sour vinegar smell coming from the vents when the AC is on. The smell problem has only happened a few times, but I am concerned. My GM reps have dismissed the problem, basically implying that I am an idiot. Another GM rep told me that the sound is resonance coming from the exhaust system. I then asked, if that was the case, then why does the sound disappear when the AC is turned off? No response... I'm counting on the general public to help me as it seems the GM tech's I've brought the car to are incapable of adequately repairing my car.Sigh.... wish I bought a different car...Just when I tried to leave work yesterday, it didn't start for me. All these problems and the car is only 6 months old with 6000 kilometers on it.Thanks to all of you for your help!
Sorry to hear of your troubles and I have been there before but not to that extent. Your car was brand new right? Zero miles when you took delivery right? If you feel like it IM your VIN and I can have a friend at GM run it. It will tell you where the car came from if any and it will show your warranty history so far. Might tell us something. Again, only if you want. In the mean time, keep taking it to the dlr, I know a hassle but if it is documented and you go out of warranty it will then be covered.
Thanks, you don't know how refreshing it is to hear some words of encouragement from others with regards to the problems I've been having.I did purchase the car brand new. When I picked it up from the dealership, it had approx. 200 kilometers on it because the car was driven from one dealership approximately 200 Kilometers away to the one where I purchased the car. GM started the warranty at approximately 200k's so I wouldn't lose out. Ironic isn't it.....To date, the car has been at the dealership 4 times. Perhaps I will contact you with the VIN. It would be nice to get some additional information about this car. I'm wondering if it was built on a Monday or a Friday...
And do not forget your GM Roadside Assistance. For Canada call 800-268-6800. Hopefully you will not need it but take advantage of it while you have it and if you need it. After all it was built into the cars price. I used to work at the Roadside center in the states. Visit here frequently and all of us may be able to help with other things. Hate to hear about these things because that is what makes people go to other manf. Lazy dlrs do not help either and I have been there too insisting on what is wrong with my car, yet it took 3 times before they fixed it. The GM tool saying is Fix It Right The First Time and that is why they are made to buy all their special tools from us but sometimes it is not fixed the first time.
I might be able to help you out, I work in service at a GM dealership in Woodstock, 30 mins down the road. i'll contact you through IM, we can discuss stuff. I may be able to help you get those leaks looked after to. We use a good sublet repair guy to do ours, he does very good work.
