winter is finally here :(

Post by AKLGT »

yep, last week it started... SNOW! all day friday and when i got to my street, made it to the driveway and got stuck there! neighbor kids were standing there, shovels in hand ready for us poor folks in winter denial (no snow tires yet). so they dug me out and the next day, i made sure i changed the rims!it wasn't too bad until weds last week when we got dumped on! 8-10" of snow and let me say that the next vehicle i will own (other than another vibe sorta) will be a FAST AWD something! my new position requires about 80% driving and my little 4 banger engine isn't heavy enough to keep me on the roads it seems. you can tell from the pic, this was mid day, how much snow had already fallen. here's a pic from today, nice and sunny (but cold!). what i get to look at standing at my driveway up the street. and a pic of the house, nice and plowed with my vibe under the car port. don't get the garage unless the folks are out of town. but that will only last for another few months when i move out. whoo hooo!

snow is good because it makes everything look nice and clean, it's beautiful and prestine. but then once you start driving on it, it turns all ugly and dirt brown. but the mountains, trees, and scenery are breathtaking!

So you're saying the four seasons in Alaska are June, July, August, and Winter?

The snow looks nice (when it's not on my streets). I have an 18 year old daughter that hasn't ever touched snow, and my last three cars never were driven in it. Kinda miss it sometimes because I grew up in it, now i don't even need to scrape the windsheild.Your Vibe looks good in it, drive carefull (slow) so it stays nice.

Wow Hope! That's a lot of snow. It is dry here still. We got some snow a few weeks ago, prob only a couple inches, but it's all gone now.I'm sure the skiers around here are waiting anxiously for the real snow to start though!
