I figured it might only be a matter of time since Grand Theft Auto San Andreas hit the streets that articles on effects of video game violence in real life would begin. RockStar the makers of GTA always like to push that envelope as far as possible and in my humble opinion San Andreas is the best in the series so far. Now the articles I read earlier this morning did not mention San Andreas but in the past there has been lots of arguements on the "real life" depiction of GTA. Ever since the first one, which I never played, I started up with Vice City, then went back and played GTA III and now San Andreas. Now for myself, I don't get suffer any side effects from playing these or other violent games. I don't feel the need to run red lights, blow up cars, honk my horn at hookers and take them under a dark over pass to get laid and then shot their brains out and collect the $$$. And I never found myself burning large pot fields before the cops showed up I never went into a construction yard, used a bull dozer to plow down portables and then knock the foreman into a hole and cement him in because someone there called my sister a (removed). Oh and repainting my car would never lose a tail of cops.I think only the easily persuaded, simple minded ppl get manipulated by violence in video games. And if you are then your playing a game above your league. Those ratings are there for a reason and should be followed, they are not there just to make the game sound good. Those that get effected should not play, its simple. They are to young or simple minded lol. Realistic games are a lot of fun and those not ment to play take out all the fun by acting out what they see and cause probs. But thats just my opinion lol, whats yours on violence in games and it being taken out of context to real life?

as long as the government doesn't control what I can purchase to play I have little or no problem with violent games. Stuff like this shouldn't for the most part be in the hands of children and it is the parents responsibility to make sure their children are not getting these games and also retailers have a hand of IDing anyone who purchases these things.I have to admit though one day of playing GTA:VC for like 4 hours one day I quickly got in my car to grab something to eat and I found myself having to talk myself down and remind myself that I am driving in real life now so I shouldn't run people over. Yeeesh..

Violence in video games is a really hot issue just because kids are getting their hands on them. When you are young and impressionable I think it is different than when you are an adult. When you are old enough it is easy to tell the difference between right and wrong, real and fake, it is a lot easier to not get caught up in the glory factor of blowing up cars and shooting people. Kids are being raised on televisions and playstations, and if the parents don't step in to explain that what they see on the screen is makebelieve and is not the way a responsible person acts then they might have a greater risk of transfering that to real life. I am in no way agreeing to censorship, but i think that parents need to do their job and make sure their kids are not playing these games until they are mature enough to understand. Same goes with movies and tv.

Merchants can do so much.. it is too easy for a young child to obtain games by downloading or borrowing from a buddy. What thing I wish the government would control is the internet. All porn sites should have the suffix .(removed) My younger brother of 12 who is relitively new to the computer scene has already stumbled accross some porn sites and that is with netnanny on. Everyone does have a hand on this. Parents, Government, Retailers..

yeah in school the computers had all that protection on it against finding porn but type in "warm fronts" and haha. That was discovered in science class. But yes, in the end its up to the parents.
