I have removed my headliner to install some antennas. I'll post some pictures of it later, but i thought i'd ask to see if anybody had specific requests for pictures of what it looks like behind the headliner.// Magnus Ullberg

i'll get some better pictures tonight. But here is a fuzzy one of what the antenna mount looks like from the inside. The cable runs to the left and then across the headliner. If i remember right it runs down the passenger a pillar.

The moon roof actually runs on two slides, one on each side. I expected some enclosed box..

Damn - that's a lot of antenna use! How many different frequencies are you using at the same time?Or better yet - what 5 devices have you got going in?Oh - and if you can get a nice clear one of that attaching point for the stock antenna, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

Gives me something to listen to while my wife sleeps in the car Then there is the cellphone antenna, i'm putting in a handsfree car kit for my cellphone. The last antenna is a 2.4 GHz antenna for the laptop, it's mainly used for work. But i also enjoy wardriving sometimes. (free internet access when you are in big cities)Isn't it amazing how many people leave their wireless networks completely unprotected?!?! From the front door of my apartment, I can see 3 open networks. I've thought about cancelling my internet service and attatching my network to theirs, but I decided that wasn't the right thing to do. So instead, I logged onto their routers and blocked a few websites and changed the network names to things like "I_got_own3d" We'll see how long it takes for them to set some encryption or at least change the default password on the routers. lol

I think you should also mount a fake mini-satelite dish on the roof too! That would be so cool! You could put it on a little motor so it would spin around while you're driving.

Let me know if you have any questions on how it goes together.Basically the antenna has a threaded piece that sticks thru the hole in the roof and then there is a nut that holds it in place.

I was about to ask a dumb question, but I already knew the answer.. I know in some states it's illegal to have a radio scanner in the car without an amateur radio liscence. Realizing you have two Ham setups, i'm guessing you have one of those...Something about the police not wanting you to know when they're following you...

Since fcc is a federal institution they override any local or state laws. One reason they got scanners approved to be used by hams is that many new ham radios these days can receive on police frequences but only transmit on ham frequencies. If thay did not allow scanners they would also make those radios illegal. That doesnt mean that i dont carry a copy of the local and federal laws explaning why it's legal. Since i'm not much of a speeder i dont expect any problems anyways, but it's better to be prepared than have to go to court and explain it to the judge.. most officers apparently doesnt know the law about hams and scanners.
