Wiring a sub, need to do some hiding.

Post by enalzi »

I need some help. I'm hooking up my subs soon. Normally when I do this I unscrew the trim along the side of the car and hide the wiring there. Alas, it doesn't look like the trim comes off. Any ideas?Oh, and where's the best place to get the power wire through the firewall?

The remove the rear running board. THere ya go.Quote »Oh, and where's the best place to get the power wire through the firewall? My guess is the main wire harness bushing, directly above the gas pedal.

i wired mine through the door seals, just start from the front and pull towards the back like ^ said and stick them in there. Its a tight squeeze but it works. And the firewall you either have to drill a hole or cut a hole in the rubber guard where the rest of the wires go through. I just cut a whole big enough for the power cord and pushed it through with some one grabbing it and pulling it all the way.

Anyway to get through the firewall without any sort of drilling or cutting?

grab yourself some electrician's fish tape, force it through the grommet, and then attach your wire, and pull it back through...

Or take a longish screwdriver and jam it through the main wiring grommit, then tape the wire to the end of the screwdriver, and push it through the gromit.Or the way Mike says. You can get a cable snake from Home Depot / Lowes for like $20.
