i already have new speakers running of m&t amp.if i bought a new headunit and just hook it up with the harness and no remote turn on leads connected.will it just have hu power to all six speakers or is the factory amp line level converter way better(louder)
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!
If you try to run your speakers through the M&T amp without it being on, you're not going to get any sound. If you don't want to use the M&T amp, you have to bypass it. See this post for info on that.If you want to keep using the M&T amp, then yes, you should get the speaker-to-line level converter. (Scosche FAI-3A) Otherwise, you're double-amplifying your signal. That's not a good thing, and usually results in crappy sound. Is it better to run your speakers off of the head unit or the M&T amp? That's in the ear of the beholder. But, the conventional wisdom is that external amps are preferable to the built-in head unit amps. External amps have better heat dissipation and more room for good solid state parts.
Though the stock external amp is designed for 2 Ohm speakers, not 4, so it'll get hotter, and perform slightly worse, if not the same as your new radio. I'd say best idea is to bypass the factory amp, if not add a newer external amplifier, which will give you the best sound.
