Whining noise.

Post by Merzbow »

When I first start it up, until the oil temp gets to it's normal temperature, the engine sounds like it's got supercharger on it when I accelerate. It makes the whining noise of the supercharger. This isn't normal, what is the cause?

You gotta stop losin to me man. . that's what's wrong . tryin to put some humor into the mix . No, seriously, I would say that it's your power steering. Or actually, it could be your belts. They may whine when they're cold, once they warm up, they're fine.Inder

Kind of tough to make a diagnosis without hearing it but it could be serveral things. Check the power steering fluid level. It could be low and cavitating air which might just bleed out after running awhile. It could also be the altenator charging the batt after the drain on it from the start cycle and from sitting overnight. If it were the power steering pump being low on fluid it must be leaking somewhere and you would want to get it checked out. These may just happen that they seem to go away at the same time engine oil warms up.

first thought would be your CAI, you got one on there right? But a whining sound is all together different, I'm going to have to agree with everyone else about the PS level or a belt noise.
