Thoughts about the new Scion TC?

Post by wicked1981 »

So what does everyone think about the new Scion TC? I went to get my car washed and waxed while I waited I picked up the August issue of Import racerand they had an article on the TC. It says that the inspirationfor the body came from the Audi. It has the BMW 5-series style headlights, a stretched Audi TT roofline, the stubby proportions of a Mercedes C-class coupe. So a bunch of cars put in one. Alsothe headunit controlling the 6 speakersstereo system is hidden behind the Audi TT aluminum-look face plate. AM/FM tuner and cd/mp3 player and it also has a customizable welcome screen and Scion Sound Processing whatever that means. Below the stereo is a Lexus heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC). "The dial itseld is a beautiful piece, cool to the touch like no metalized plastic can be, with an indicator light that glows from blue to red depending on wherein the temperature range is positioned". The goods.2AZ-FE 2.4L, 160hp 163ft.-lbs of torque but it does say that it redlines at roughly 6,200rpm.. Also stock comes with 17-inch alloy wheels. Four wheel ABS system with 10.8-inch veted discs and solid 10.6-inch rears. Panorama ail glass moon roof (Toyota 1ST), power everything including auto up and down windows for passenger and driver , side mirror mounted turn signals, dampened OH-S**t handles, memory driver seat settings, Keyless entry----on the key.All this for the out of this world price of $15,950!!!!!http://www.scion.com/drive/features/tc_specs.html

I like it, but it's too small inside for me. The sunroof is standard and takes up alot of headroom. That's not good me at 6'2". The only thing I dislike about the design is how far back the rear wheels are pushed on the body. It just looke a little funny but otherwise it's a nice looking car.

The other day I saw one on the road and I truly dig the TC. It would be on my short list if I were in the market to buy a new car. However, I would need to have some sort of utility vehicle in addition to the TC. The overall size would make hauling my 95lb golden retriever a little tough.

It's not my style of car at all, but I do like the way it looks. It's nice and sporty. BUT just wait until the ricers get a hold of it.

It looks nice, but doesn't have the performance aspects that are attractive to me. If they offered a turbocharged model, I'd be all over it.

I do not care that much for its styling. Its not offensive, but its not all that exciting either. Its also a little heavy for its size. It would have been much more impressive if they could have kept the weight down closer to the Celica's, and maybe given it a few more lines in it styling. Plus I am just not feeling the wierd grill.

The boxy one is the xB, there's the xA that looks like a mini-Matrix and the tC that is the little hatchback car.

Just caught a glimpse of a TC last night. Looked pretty sharp. And don't worry, the turbo/SC will be soon to come, I'm sure! I think it's a pretty hot little car, myself. And a very reasonable price. I was surprised to see it weighs a little more than us, though. Weird.

here are the cars so you can see what they look like cars also I was reading Import Tuner (september issue) and according to this TRD is already testing a supercharger. Here is what is says. Most TRD chargers are designed as screw-type sc's but for the 4 ccylinders TRD incorporated the use of a centrifugal sc. The sc does prove one point in our industry: The 2AZ-FE is able to take boost pressure. The TRD unit is said to run in the 200hp range at six psi of boost pressure on a mildly tuned factory engine management system. So if TRD is already in the mix expect a lot of performance for this car. Might be the next celica.Scion XA

I love that car.No doubt, there's a ton of potential with that 2.4L, but I too was sick of tiny 2-doors. I love the Vibe's versatility, roominess, and economy. If I buy another "sports" or "sporty" car, it's going to be a serious one and NOT a daily driver. One of my dream cars has always been a turbo'd late model MR2...>

It is an awesome car and offers a ton of near-lux features from under 16,500. It is also a lot of fun to drive and quick around town. I notice a little bit of lag at about 70 mph, but other than that it is pretty quick. I personally like it because it is roomy for a small sports coupe. I am about 6'2", 275pds and I am totally comfortable in it. the only problem is the rear head room. Overall, I think it is an great car for an even better price.

It is a nice looking car. I haven't seen one upclose yet, I think our Toyota dealership just got one a few weeks ago though. If I was shopping around for a cost effective sedan the TC would be near the top.

I saw one the other day at a Toyota dealership. I like the car, but if I were to get one I'd wait about a year so the aftermarket goodies will have been developed for it already

Dont have to wait a year.

Well, in all honesty I'm not much of a fan of Scions that are stock, but the availability of AM parts is a huge plus. The TC is a new car that probably has more AM parts in the making than our Vibe has gotten in the past 2-3 years
