fixed my sub, but broke ABS and brake indicator lights =(

Post by chrispyone »

so i fixed the zooming i was hearing in my sub. it turned out that i was getting interference from my power cable. so i decided to tap the left speaker from behind the HU. I used the black and yellow wires. that solved the zooming problem with when i would rev up and down.however, in the process i messed up some idicator lights on my dash. now the parking brake light is stuck no matter if its up or down, and also the ABS light is stuck as well. im thinking i probably nicked a wire while i was snipping speaker off of the left line. i dont know where to start looking.does anyone know which wires control the ABS and parking brake lights?

Maybe you didn't reattach the brake sensor harness properly if you did...As to ABS, not sure what to say.Might wanna get ahold of a code scanner and find out what codes are being thrown...could be coincidental...

problem solved

ok call me a dumbass... but i fixed it nonetheless. i also got to the bottom of my zooming problem. it turns out that on the left side of the car, the rear speaker wires are black-yellow and then turn to red-white before going into the doors. whos freaking wonderful idea was that?! i thought that it would be red-white where i tapped the by the driver foot rest. but it turns out that that white wire is the parking brake indicator. so when i snipped off the tap, the parking brake light malfunctioned and ABS indicator was triggered. i realized this was the case when i jiggled the wires and the abs light flickered. that also explains the the noise i would hear in the sub whenever i would i would accelerate and deccelerate. i dont know what the red wire is, but the white explains it all.i just resoldered the wire, and the brake light and abs light were fixed. the sub sounds great, now that it going off two channels instead of one. the volume on all my speakers seem to be fuller and louder now that theres no interference from the brake line. so after all the hours spent, all the burns from the soldering iron, all the times i hit my head on the mirror, dash, doorway, the many times i banged my head in frustration, it was all worth it. it sounds great. looking back, maybe i should have just paid to get it installed, but its too late now.thanks for everyone's help. my next project for the matrix is to vaccuum.

Ha ha! I thought so... I didn't remember that they changed colors after the harnesses leading to the doors... I tapped my speaker wires up at the harnesses leading to each doors, so I didn't remember it.I'm glad it was something simple like that, and overall, you're pleased with it!
