XM Satellite Radio VS Moon & Tunes Radio

Post by gemms »

I have a question for you all. Just test drove (for the very first time I might add) the 2004 Vibe & AM IN LOVE WITH IT!! We are debating between one with a XM radio & one with the moon & tunes radio. I see the that M&T radio is a 200 watt premium audio system with 6 speakers. The one we drove has this radio & it was FANTASTIC!! My hubby is a BIG stereo buff & enjoys listening to CD's, he has a very critical ear for music! We've not seen a Vibe with the XM radio, so can't really say if this type of radio would sound better or worse than the one we drove. Is one of these BETTER than the other?? Does one sound any better?? HELP!!!

HI silverawd26I would like to go with the XM and I really don't mind paying the $9.95 a month for the service (AND I can always cancel it). I am just worried that since it is a different radio to include the XM - would it be the same quality of sound? I would still get the "moons and tunes" option , but I noticed that the options on the window sticker with don't say "200 watt". Better sound means more to me than XM, but I would like to have both. :-) Thanks to anyone who can help. :-)

silverawd26Thanks...I am going with the XM then. I may not keep the service - but probably will. It can only help the resale value either way.JEFF :-)

Moon & Tunes gives you the 200W amp, as well as two tweeters in the front doors. Worth it in my opinion, unless you have plans to upgrade the speakers on your own down the line. If that's the case, might wanna stick with the non-M&T system and just put in your speakers later...Otherwise, get M&T if you can, it really does make a difference from my experience...As for XM, well, my opinion is biased, but it's the absolute best $10 a month I ever spent...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

-IMPORTANT- If you want XM factory installed, MAKE SURE you will NOT change out the factory radio. The factory XM tuner does NOT work with anything but the factory radio. If you ever want to change your stereo, it will be useless. You can add XM aftermarket if you think you might change the radio down the line, so consider this in your decision. Factory speakers, even the M&T, will degrade after years if you decide to keep the vehicle, so keep that in mind if you're looking to keep it for 10+ years. If you think the stereo is good enough, go with the factory XM. Otherwise, go to your local Circuit City and explore the aftermarket XM options so you can see if it fits you..
