Man, an unexpected turn for the worst today. In which was supposed to be only 1-2 inches, turned out to be around 4-5 inches of snow on the road. Port Huron has seen 2 ft in less than a week. Anyway today was the perfect to try out the new Conti's in snow. They worked wonderful. Even in sudden stops the loss of control is a lot less than that of other cars I have driven. Not to mention, riiding a little higher off the ground helps too. Just let me set the record straight, CONTI'S ARE COOL lol.
quote:Just let me set the record straight, CONTI'S ARE COOLI AGREE! We had some snowfall unexpectedly this evening and all the roads were coated with a nice snow covering. The Conti's were better, in my opinion, than the Goodyear Eagle RSA's I have on my Cavalier. But of course I had to take into consideration the heavier weight of the Vibe compared to the Cavalier that was to my advantage.90% of good handling depends on the driver. Being patient, be defensive, and taking your time make all the difference. Thanks for setting the record straight for some of the concerned Conti/All-Season owners.
Thanks for the post! After reading some other posts I'd been thinking of getting winter tires even though I never have gotten them before.... and I don't believe that just because I'm in Canada, I have to have them. I don't think I will now.Nick you're right about it depending on the driver!!

As others have said before, if you think you may benefit from exclusive snow tires, then by all means go for it.I went back to some isolated back roads/lots tonight and checked out the tires under controlled circumstances. I found that stopping was better than expected. The rear wheels would lock alot quicker due to less weight in the rear but the front stayed pretty firmly on the road without locking. Under cautious driving all should be well.As far as from a stop, normal acceleration in snowy weather does not work well, period. Definately have to be light on the gas for a little while in order to reduce tire spin.Overall, I was pleased with the performance during my time of tests and fun.
I don't drive to work so theres not usually anywhere that I have to drive to if the weather is bad. Right now Sputnik is covered under a blanket of snow, not having been out since last night before the snow.
