Has anyone had problems hitting their gears in the Vibe? The other day I was getting up in RPM in 2nd gear and couldn't hit third or fourth gear if my life depended on it. Grinded the gears pretty bad, now I've been driving stick for a long time this is the first car that I've missed gears so many times, anyone else experiencing this?

I've had some trouble shifting my GT a few times. After shifting cacathy's car at the MI meet I realized, Those brass shifting cable mounts are a Must. I just havent ordered them yet but I think that well fix that issue
Every now and then I get out of synch and let the clutch out too early, hate that sound. If you consistently can't get it into gear with the clutch all the way in though, then it sounds like time for service.
....there was one time i had an issue downshifting from 5th to 4th...i was afraid of coming too far across and going into second and i accidently tried to get into reverse...one thing i liked better in my VW...reverse was up and to the left...with a push down. SO there was no issue!
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!

from 1st to second maybe twice with the clutch al the way in its made a grinding sound, once well following my speedy friend, and once while doing a 5-60 test, but that was atleast 2 months ago, i noticed the gearbox is smooth at anything above 1st to 2nd, its only when im dealing with those two gears i ever have trouble, but usually downshifting to 2nd is fine, just getting to second from first is hard sometimesmy dad likes to ride clutch all the way through first gear (to about 10mph) so maybe tahts why, but what would burning out the clutch have to do with the gearbox?
When I first got the car, I noticed the exact same problem. I had had a Civic and the shifting was much smoother compared to the Vibe. I did get used to it though, and I don't grind the gears any more. I just go slower and don't try to force it in. Hope this helps.
The only time I notice gear problems on my base 5speed (other than my own idiocy) is when I start the car and shift into reverse. I will often hear a couple loud clicks or maybe a bit of full grinding if I haven't push the clutch all the way. Even when I am sure to put it all the way down, it will sometimes still click or grind.

I know this isn't quite relavent to the 5 speed but I noticed that above certain speeds the GT's gearbox has some kind of safety feature that makes it hard to downshift into first gear. Not sure if thats just me but it seems like whenever I'm moving 15+ there is a little extra resistance getting it into 1st even with teh clutch all the way down, and the same thing happens once you aer going about 40+ when downshifting to 2nd

They don't match exactly, they match to the point that your not going to kill your clutch downshifting. It is also a safety feature so that you can't down shift to 1st at anything above 40 mph. I've actually downshifted to 1st at about 25-30 mph before when someone wanted to race and I was already cruising in fourth.

just to clarify, shift into 2nd, then reverse (in case you thought I meant 2nd, 1st, reverse).I believe it has something to do with lining up the synchronizers. I know this worked on my VW Corrado, because my reverse did not have a synchro. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
If the engine is idling in neutral with the clutch engaged, the clutch disc and the transmission input shaft are spinning. When you depress the clutch, it can take a second or three for them to stop (more if there's any hint of clutch drag) and because reverse does not have a synchronizer, you can't shift until they do. Because the forward gears all have synchronizers, you can shift to one of them, thus stopping the clutch and shaft, and then to reverse without binding or clunking.
