Couple more questions on the 2005 compared to previous models

Post by debi5475 »

My 2005 AWD is presumably being built (or on a list somewhere in California) as we speak. It is my 50th birthday today. Hence thoughts of presents for the car. Like Ventvisors, Window tint, Moon roof visor, etc. Since they changed the front end, did they change other things? Will the same things fit from the 2004 vibes? And is a moonroof visor needed and helpful. Rain, wind noise? And the bug deflector thingy on the front of the car, that might not fit, since they changed the nose? So many questions. Thanks. Like my little shifty guy? And I don't even shift.

The bug deflector will fit because hood is still the same shape, its the grill that was changed only so no problem there. Yes they are built in California.I don't have a moon roof so... no idea, sorry.

The vent visors are a must in my opinion. The moonroof deflector is optional. I have the moonroof delfector and I noticed that while the wind noise decreased the air flow also decreased. Most of the enterior or interior components will fit both the '04 and '05. However, things have changed inside the engine compartment. I recently purchased a hyperground system for a '04 and had to do some modifications to make it fit my '05. The engine itself is the same, but the location of some components has changed.

Thanks, I just don't want to buy the ventvisors, etc and not have them fit. And mr. tinty is going to come out and do the windows when I get the alarm installed, and I didn't know if the windows had changed, since I figured out from here that they use pre-cut window tints. This place has been so helpful. I have learned so much. I would never even have wondered how they tinted windows. On the way to work I saw a frosty monotone. I was trying to get a good look at it without causing an accident. Back, side, front view. Haven't really seen one at 70 miles an hour before. Bet I freaked out a driver today. Thanks for the birthday wishes.

regarding the ventvisors... i got the solid black 'ventvisors' for my previous car and loved them, except that the adhesive tape gets old over time and they block the light completely, making your A-beam especially look thicker (from a driving position)for my vibe i got the weatherflectors in smoke, which are translucent and therefore don't widen the A-beam as much (the vibe has a rather thick A-beam already, especially compared to my leetle aspire .the rear weatherflectors do have adhesive tape as there isn't enough flexing tension to hold those in place (the front ones flex in place).I love the window wind deflectors. i leave my windows open almost 2 inches when parked in the sun to reduce the convection oven effect congrats on your new vibe. sure love mine

Now you just quit saying that. For all I know mine isn't even being built yet. It is probably still on some silly little list in CA, like on one of those hanging turny things that short order cooks use. That they take the slips off of. And I imagine mine just being passed over, not being picked to be cooked. I ordered it 10 days ago. But that was a Saturday. So I assume It was a week ago Monday. Eeecchhh. I know, I know. Some of you waited many, many months, like 5 or 6. And I will get mine in 5-7 more weeks. But then you all say how much you love yours. And my Saturn squealed again when I started it up with the AC on yesterday. I had the belt and pulley replaced. And it still sqealed. Well it makes it easier to part with, been a good car. *Kicks the Saturn*Can I install the bug deflector myself, and the moonroof thingy, if I get them from ebay. I think I can do the window air deflectors, they are just tape. I have them on the saturn. Love them. Is ebay the way to go?

The deflectors for the 03-04 will work on the 05 as the window/moonroof sizes did not change. My advice is to shop around for the Visors. I got mine for $45 from a local parts store. The sunroof one cost me a little more ($50) because I had to order it and pay for shipping.

Happy 50th B-day Debi! (Been there, done that, got the 'old fart' gag gifts in 2002)Personally, I'd pass on the moonroof wind deflector until you try out the factory setup. I don't have the side window thingies. This is my first 'roof in 30 years (last one was a '74 Audi Fox), and I don't have a problem with the noise. I've been using the 'vent' position (rear surface of the glass panel rises about 2 inches) quite a bit, and it is pretty quiet, even at 70-80 mph. It's somewhat noisier in the 'full open' position, but there is a small 1" front deflector that rises as the glass panel retracts into the roof. (My Audi Fox had the same type of deflector, except it was a steel panel with a manual crank)You might also consider some GrafXWerks overlays and such to make your Vibe unique at little cost almost instantly. Use the SEARCH function to find other threads and photos for ideas. It's too bad Pontiac doesn't let you 'watch' your Vibe go through the ordering/building/shipping process like the Mini Cooper and the Maybach!

The Saturn's A/C, if it's not the belts, might need to be recharged, or the clutch on the compressor itself is shot. (I don't know too much about the mechanics of it, but those're the problems my co-workers had)I'd agree with kostby. Try it out plain vanilla first and see how it flies. The tint and alarm i'll definitely agree with. Bug deflector too. I've never personally liked the moonroof deflectors...but I don't know how well they work on the vibe..

Quote, originally posted by cspmeinkc »will the 03-04 bug deflector fit a 2005?I can't give you a 100% accurate answer, but I would say chances are good that it will. When I was comparing the 2004 and 2005 models side-by-side on the lot, the hood doesn't seem to have changed. Not sure how all of the different brands of deflectors mount... I have the one from WeatherTech on my 2003, there are 4 holes in the deflector that match up with holes on the inside of the hood, and it attaches with plastic fasteners that go in those holes. I would imgaine if the holes are in the same spot it would work.
