Thanks GenVibe

Post by sloth »

Justed wanted to thank everybody on the site. Finding this site has renewed my enthusiasm for my vibe. It's now cleaner than it's been for months and I'm back to having fun driving it.Unfortunately this site is going to be bad for my savings as well. I really want a new exhaust, CAI, and a unichip. Those will probably never happen until something goes out. But this site has already cost me gas money. I was getting 32mpg until I found the site now I'm getting about 25. Trying to hit lift every time I'm getting on the highway.I used to shift down to 5th to pass people now I'm shifting down to 3rd just to hit lift. I'm having fun, but really wasting gas.

Just wait until you get a CAI. That whole punch it instict will make your MPG go to crap.

Don't worry. I think that many of us have a lead foot on this forum. I know I do. This car is not that quick, but, it's a great car for trips and jus cruzin. And if you do get a chance, lower and try to make it a handling machine. That's my future plan.Inder Singh

In a way, this site has rejuvinated my interest in the Vibe. I had visited off and on, sometimes went a couple of months without visiting this place. But, I eventually started hanging out more, got to know the folks here, they got to know me, and that has really helped.I've always enjoyed the car. But, I went through the blahs, and didn't care that much. I still treated the car good, kept it somewhat clean, but just didn't have the passion for owning it like I once had. So, talking with you guys, and seeing some of the things you've done with your cars has helped keep me interested the Vibe. Months ago, I really didn't consider things like getting the windows tinted, popping those dents out, and maybe even repainting the bumper to get the Vibe looking great again. So, thanks!

I killed the mod bug with a good swat with my rolled up bills... CAI was the last mod for a while now... summer is half over so if I do get around to lowering the car like I want to, it may not be till next year now though I REALLY wanna do it this year...But this site sure does keep me enthusiastic about my car and lots of ideas and opinions on just about every subject.

Glad to be a part of it.I was just thinking about this myself the other day. I feel exactly the same way. I find myself trying to buy a second car to have fun modding so I can keep the Vibe. It's a great daily road warrior, but there are just certain things that I want to do to a car that I just can't with the Vibe. So instead of getting rid of it, I want to keep it but add to my automotive collection to play with the other car.

My wife's van should be replaced soon, so all of my energy has been going towards that search. But I know what you mean. If this site didn't exist, I wouldn't know about Grafxwerks (about $150 invested) or PerfectFit Hood deflectors ($75) or Nova wouldn't have sold me his wheels ($400). That 's a total of $650 this site has cost me. Now, if everybody were to send me $1 to recoup some of the cost, it would be appreciated.

That brings up a question I thought of this weekend. If you trade it in, do you have to take the mods back off?

If you trade it in, do you have to take the mods back off? well, from my past experience, i would take the mods you can take off, off before you trade the car in. they don't give you any more value if it's not an option in NADA. you're better off to sell them used a/m online or locally. i found out this valueable lesson when i sold my tundra. over $10K invested, but the bank only looks at the NADA value, not your receipts!

I'd say famous last words .As for leaving mods on for a trade-in, I have found that it depends on the mods and the dealer. When I went to trade in my Mustang, I had a set of American Racing Torq-Thrust II wheels on it with big Z-rated tires. Some dealers were willing to give me more on the trade in value for leaving the wheels on, other dealers said that they don't affect the trade in value and wouldn't give me anything for them. So it depends on the dealer. What they offered to give me for leaving the wheels and tires on the car was less than 1/4 of what I spent on them, though, and they were only about 7 months old and were used for less than 8,000 miles. So I kept the wheels and put the originals back on.
