Exhaust System

Post by MoonDogg »

I am looking at doing some upgrade's.... I am going to get a CAI and am thinking about a Cat-back system.. but am unsure... here are my ?'s how do they sound? Its it noticable loud in the car. I had a exhaust system on my Tracker and it got anouying and I would get headachs... I mean louder is ok.. but if it rattles everything and sounds like a bumble bee.. I don't want it... Any suggestions are welcome and please let me know about yall experience's. Thanks I also want to get the maximum performence gains for my bucks... so any info on that would be great also... and is there any direct bolt on kits .. no cutting or welding??? Thanks again...

Sounds like this.. This is the Borla and the Magnaflow sounds about the same. There is no vibrations all over the car but of course it is louder than stock and its not really loud inside the car. Notisable but not out of control.http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=8047

I agree....I have the Magnaflow TRUE Cat-Back and when I cruise on the highway or regular roads for that matter, I don't even hear it, only during quick acceleration is it noticable. I'd say a little louder than the stock exhaust all around. Of course once you hit lift it screams I don't have a CAI yet, but I'd imagine everything gets louder?

if your going for a proven, cheaper(emfisize "er") and effective exhaust, by all means in hell get the Magnaflow exhaustas well i redid my own research, looked at dynos from individual guys like us on a varies amount of cars, and decided that Injen is the way to go, AEM sometimes had an extra ft of tourqe, but Injen on all the cars i could find massive dynos for the Injen always had about 2 more hp gain, and usually the same tourqe (RSX was getting more tourqe, but fooy to you Type-S)also something new to us, its not out yet but magnaflow will be making 3inch in/out catylytic converters(they fit both GT and base), which will fully complete your exhaust system, unless somebody wants to make massive massive headers for the GT as there already pretty damn good, i dont know what type of gains thell give, probably only a few horses, but there priced at 125 bucks! so for a car modification not much for maybe 2-4hp

There's really no need for a 3" cat on a 1.8L NA engine.

yes however 2.75 (70mm) is perfectly reasonable and sounds better in my opinion (more hp increase as well)
