*we have 03 GT with dunlops*is it possible for a tire to just go POP if it has had hard wear, i didnt do anything that hard, i drove at 95 once, and ive done tons of fishtail/drifting turns on dirt(but usually only at around 35) and one 180 slide on dirt at about 45(the only time ive ever used handbreak while moving)....now should any of they above be able to blow a random left rear tire?? so that it needs patching, which it has now, or did it probably hit something when it blew, i wasnt the person driving it when it blew, but my dad says he was driving normalso my qeustion is should i have to baby the tire at all?!? o should it be able to run as stable as a stock tire say if i ever did do 130+ just a few times, or did fishtail/drifts at speeds around 35-40 on mainly dirti would like to run the speed test atleast once but im not gonna do it if theres any dought on the tire, i dont need to be thinking "o i hope it doesnt poop* when im shifting from 4th to 5th at 115(est) and so forthi generally use the car normally, but the things above i do do sometimes(not often at all, but still they happen)
From the Dunlop site:Any puncture or injury to a tire's tread area obviously affects performance and safety. Proper repair is critical. The puncture must be repaired on both the inside and the outside of the tire. Because all parts of a tire are engineered to function as a single unit, any repair must take that into consideration. Only small straight through 3/16" diameter or less punctures in the tread area may be repairable, if no secondary damage has occurred. Note: A tire repair can be properly made only if the tire is removed from the rim; a thorough internal inspection is carried out; and the repair is made from the inside out. A repair must fill and seal the injury, i.e. vulcanized plug and patch. Only specially trained technicians are qualified to repair a tire. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.Dunlop Safety Advisory, Speed Rated Tires: Repaired tires must not be used in excess of posted speed limits, in race or other competition. Speed ratings are not valid for repaired, re-treaded, under-inflated or overloaded, excessively worn, damaged, or altered tires.Back to me, I have never seen a tire just go "pop" and be repairable. Only a puncture could be repairable. Tire hit or went over something. Looks like (and I think you feel this way anyway) the best route is two new tires. (Think I have read that tires should be replaced in pairs).
I always get my tires patched at discount tire and they use a kind of plug/patch that fills the puncture hole with a large flat backing on the inside of the tire. I have no doubt that a tire patched with this method of patching would last until the tire was worn down past the steel belts. I also run the OEM Dunlops and i have 2 of them patched.

Is it stinkier than peeling out when your tires go poop? Your dad probably just hit a nail. By the way, you seem to be obsesed with power. The most cost effective mods for our cars are the progress rear bar and springs. Vibes will never be stoplight champs but they handle amazingly well once they're balanced and take a quicker set. A progress bar is $100 and you can get Midas to put it on for $20 more. Try a good cheap mod instead of constantly speculating. Do something, anything, and tell us how you like it for a change. You probably won't get a more uniform responce for first great cheap mod than the Progress or a CAI. The progress if all stealth and has zero downside. Your dad wouldn't even know if he drove it normally. And don't see if you can go 135 mph, especially with the stock suspension. It takes 1000 ft to stop from that speed. Live long and prosper.
Vibe GT, TRD springs, Progress bar, STB, Unichip, Borbet E 16x7.5, 225/50 Bridgestone RE750, beefed up grounds and battery bypass capacitors(had em laying around)

Live long and prosper.power obsession comes from musclecar friends, online and real life. autocross, handling, and hatcbacks comes from my dadlol, yes to comment on that....your right i dont need to, ill sereisly wait on that, and as well with the CAI, i did more research and ill tell you how i like the AEM when i get it, hopefully before summer ends, if i get lucky ill be allowed to take some of my own money out of the bank its been sitting there since i stopped my paper route(ooo maybe 2 years now!, and ill just say this, if i spent it all id have a stratford turbo, theres enouph for a CAI)i may someday do a top speed test(possibly not even with this car), but for now i agree ill calm down and just do what is practical and fun,the only tempation with speed is ive been to 95 and the car was as smooth as butter, but 95 and 135 may be way different animals all together Story...i was driving today and for kicks running to top on 2nd gear(65 or so) i was tempted to pass this lady infront of me in a stock impreza 5 door, but i decided not too because there was no point to it, so i slowed to my casual 3 under speed limit, and qeuss who drives over that hill infront of me, mr cop car!! thank god, if i woulda passed her god knows id probably be going atleast 15 over if not 25+, and i need more then anything keep a clean licensce atleast until im 18
