Noise Harshness Vibration

Post by viBert »

Here are some things I have noticed about my Vibe:I checked the tire pressure with a digital guage, every tire was over inflated, 35-40 psi, not sure if it was the dealer, I have set them all to 32 psi and I notice the ride is better and there is less NHV.My tailgate was making thumping noises - too loose. I was going to let the dealer tighten it but decided to try to fix it myself. I loosened the 3 - 10mm bolts on the latch and pushed the latch towards the back and retightened the 3 bolts. No more thumping sounds and the tailgate requires a firmer close. When I accelerate to about 3000 rpms, on take off, there is a lot of buzziness that resonates through the car, I can feel it in the steering wheel, seats and it sets up a bzzz in the dash. I hope it is normal. I am guessing that they used the same engine mounts in the base as are used in the GT so they are probably a lot harder than the ones used in the corrola and therefore they transmit more vibration from the engine. Why didn't pontiac make the speed controlled volume standard in the Vibe, we really need it here!
Base 2 tone Salsa, auto, power pack Mississauga, Ontario, Canada I'd rather be sailing but the Vibe makes me a happy landlubber.

The psi recommendation in the glove box is for cold tire PSI. quote:My tailgate was making thumping noises - too loose. I was going to let the dealer tighten it but decided to try to fix it myself. I will check this out and hope to get more firmness with the tailgate.quote:When I accelerate to about 3000 rpms, on take off, there is a lot of buzziness that resonates through the car, I can feel it in the steering wheel, seats and it sets up a bzzz in the dash. It seems to be coming from the defrost vents on the dash on my Vibe, but I can't seem to isolate an area and try to secure the vibrating parts. I will see if I can find a related post.quote:Why didn't pontiac make the speed controlled volume standard in the Vibe, we really need it here!I believe SCV is only available with the DVD Navigation stereo system. Almost all other late model GM stereo systems do have the SCV available, but doesn't seem this way with the Vibe. Maybe for the 2004 models they will add this feature.
