I'm thinking of putting some vinyl on my fusion orange '04 GT and was hoping for some feedback from people that have already gone this route, or have seen more of it in person than I have. The problem I'm having is this: What color do you put with metallic burnt orange? Nonetheless, I've got a few ideas running through my head.I may go with a largish ghost tribal pattern across the sides. I've seen some pics on the web where people have used transparent gray vinyl to simulate ghost flames. If I do this I'd also like to use tint to carry the design partway up the side windows. The reservations I have with this idea are that I've never seen the tinted vinyl ghost patterns in person (so I don't know if it'd look chintzy up close) and I'm wary of turning the car into a canvas and losing its shape against the graphic.I may go with a dark metallic blue racing stripe, similar to the Neptune blue color (if I can even find that color vinyl), or perhaps some creative sort of pinstripe. If I do that I'll probably shave off the badges and replace them with similarly-colored Vibe stickers.I'm not fond of the small "splash" graphics across the doors, so I probably won't be talked into doing those. They remind me too much of compact trucks from the early 90s for some reason.Alternately I could just skip the vinyl altogether and save up for a new set of wheels or something. Any opinions on these ideas or alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Metallic Pewter looks quite good with the Sunburst/Fusion Orange IMO. I've had several customers do Black/Orange, White/Orange, Silver/Orange.Personally, I'd avoid the racing stripe(s) and the tribal stuff. Ghost flames might look ok if you're into that. There are lots of translucent vinyl options out there.- RyanGrafxWerks

New wheels won't be tired after 6 months and will drastically change the look of your car in a classy way - check out the wheels many of the big-time GVers.I'll admit, I have a set of overlays for all of the badges and the arrowheads on the wheels and steering wheel, and they look great. Then again, they're all black, because I was looking for a subtle change that would blend away the red accents. However, if you're considering "largish ghost tribal patterns" that continue up the side windows, perhaps subtlety isn't your thing.
I actually like the vinyl shotinthedark has. What I was originally thinking of was the "ghost flames" paint effect you see on hot rods now and then, the now-you-see-it-now-you-don't type, but in a tribal pattern. Of course, actually having that painted on is a massive expense. I've seen pictures where people try to simulate it with translucent vinyl, but I haven't seen it in person so I don't know if it looks crappy or not. I'm not really bold enough to put it on there in a contrasting color, tempting as it would be. The Vibe GT stickers (to replace the regular badges) would be pretty neat. I looked at GrafxWerks' site and thought the purble or dark blue came close to the color I was thinking of.GrafxWerks, I have some questions about the specific colors you sell. Is the metallic purple you sell more of an indigo, or is that just my monitor? Also, the metallic dark blue looks like it's not as saturated/intense as most of the other colors. Is this correct?

You know refective black would be something to look at in designing the pattern. You can't see it to much but when lights pass by blam your pattern comes out, I've got vinyl but I went with a different pattern.

I know you'll be a-okay without my approval. CC is one of my buddies and he knows I'm not a huge fan of the decals on his car either, but he's found it in his heart to forgive me. I respect not only his knowledge of cars but also that he has gone ahead and done a bunch of prominent cosmetic mods on his Vibe, because that's what he likes.5lbsofswisscheese raised an alternative, that being saving up for new wheels - once I get my exhaust installed and the tinting done (it's pretty stinkin' hot in Calgary these days!), that'll probably be my next mod too. It's a huge investment, but there's a reason that you see great wheels on cars such as Triton's, devlop's, Mavrik's, Nsimkins', frostyGT's, etc etc... So, my advice would be - save up for the wheels! But, to each their own, and if a person doesn't want to hear other opinions, courteously and respectfully expressed, then there's not a lot of point in asking what others think now, is there?
I'd personally pass on the vinyl and save up for some wheels and springs. I'm not a fan of the decals, but to each his own. New wheels can really transform the look of the Vibe.

The Reflective Purple is a vivid plum purple, and the dark blue is just as saturated as the other colors. You can e-mail me for specific color samples if you're interested.- RyanGrafxWerks

Check out http://www.silentrage.net that's where Celtic Curse got his graphics from... some neat designs there... contact Roy tell him Jackie sent you.
I decided bodyside vinyl graphics are gonna have to wait. Wheels really do look more appealing at the moment, but even more important is a new graphics machine for my illustration. Gotta set priorities unfortunately.
