Place to sign up for email recall info?

Post by fancynewwheels »

I was just wondering if there is a website in both Canada and the U.S. that we can get emails when something has been recalled or whatever on the vibe. I want that newer and bigger battery. I live in Alberta Canada and -30 C will happen sometime this winter...Thanks everybody! Have a fun drive today!

Check out the GM site http://www.mygmlink.com . Have read that they send notice of recalls. But not sure if it includes cars in Canada, but check it out and see. Others have posted that they get updates from their insurance companies, but I do not recall which companies and in which country.

I'd be surprised if there was an actual recall on the batteries. Maybe some service guidance, but they are not going to blanket replace batteries.

Recalls are on safety related items mostly so don't hold your breath for a battery one.Now I can't speak for the US but GM and Canadian Ministry of Transportation work hand in hand to ensure that every vehicle with a recall gets a mailed notification. if there is a recall and your driving your car, you will get it in the mail. or just have a GM dealer run your VIN on their GMVIS program to look for any recalls.

When my dad's 98 Grand Am was recalled, he received a notice in the mail from GM...said in big letters on it "IMPORTANT RECALL INFORMATION."You'll get notified if there's ever a Vibe recall. Not likely though. And I'd put money on it that you'll never see a recall on the battery...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

i still get all kinds of things for the 98 grand am i haven't owned since 99, my 00 cougar that i also haven't owned since 01, and my 01 tundra last owned april 03. so..... i don't think the dealerships do the best job at updating their systems. if i get anything important on the tundra, i can call the guy who bought it from me and every so often i run into him in town.

Yes, recalls are always well publicized and comminicated to the owners. Its TSB's that you have to dig for. For example, my Nissan truck was in for an oil change a few years back, and I inquired about TSB's for engine tick. There was an outstanding TSB to REPLACE the engine in my truck. If I hadn't inquired, they would never have said anything.

In most cases when in for an oil change, TBS information is not even looked at.. its researched by techs when they are fixing a car and they usually look up relevant information only.Did you get a new engine though?

Thanks all.. Yea, I doubt if there would be a recall on the battery, but it sure would be needed...

I got mine replaced because the other was leaking and they put in the bigger one as a replacement.

Yes I did. I wasn't expecting that at all, but the service guy called with good news and bad news. He said the bad news is we didn't change your oil. The good news is you're getting a new engine. 3 or 4 days with a nice loaner car, I get my truck back with a spanking new engine.
