Long Term Wrap-up for Matrix XRS in Motor Trend

Post by Mike-NC »

In the latest issue of Motor Trend they have a long-term wrap-up of their Matrix XRS. Mostly positive, but with several gripes about the engine/transmission. Very little mention of the connection between the Matrix and Vibe.Note no unusual expenses, just routine maintenance. They did slam the base model (Matrix/Vibe) saying they are very competent commuters, but not very exciting (compared to the XRS/GT, I suppose.)

I am a subscriber, so I was reading the mag. Don't know if it is available on the web site-MotorTrend.com.Those more computer literate than I may be able to find it and post the link. Anyone willing to help?

Well, let us put certain things into prospective....we drive a WAGON!!! It isn't suppose to drive like a Porsche. If we start to believe it can, then go out and buy a Civic. For most of the people I know, it is a family car. A car to get us to and from work. A car to do our grocery shopping, camping trip or trips to the zoo with our younger members of the family....and it is the ride we take pride in when we go to our car meets. However, at the end of the day it is not a performance car, but rather a family car. As far as Motor Trend is concerned...I don't think too highly about them ever since they named the Chrysler Cirrus 1995 Motor Trend car of the year....what a piece of $hit that was!!!!

The base is not made be exciting. That's one reason they came out with the XRS/GT. The base was just made for economy purposes. That's all. But, us, we like to make it fun by puttin our own little spice in it. May it be performance, sounds, can't do much show yet cuz they don't make a kit for us yet(factory sport package does not count as a body kit in my opinion)Inder

You know, I just got done my first 2 500 miles roadtrips in the Vibe, and I'd have to say that it's actually a pretty peppy, good handling car. It's nice in corners and has the power to pass people if I need it.What more do you need? Ever drive a cavalier? The damn thing will throw you into the passenger seat it leans so bad . . .
