I was jus wondering, if I got a good deal or not?I bought my Vibe almost a year ago. September 3rd was the date I believe. This is what came with my car2004 Shadow BaseMoons and TunesPower Package16 inch alloy wheelsMonotoneAll this for $16400 out the door. What I think they did was they marked the Vibe as a 2003 instead of a 2004. Could that be it. Cuz I think I got like 4000 in rebates. The car started out like $21000.Inder Singh

Nov. 2002 on 2003 Base 5sp w/power package and some misc. accessories. Sticker at $17,8xx. Dealer price at $16,8xx. GM rebate $2000, GM CC rebate at $28xx. Total out the door including dealer fees - $12,041.30
i bought mine apr 19, 03. $22K, sticker $23K. i didn't care, it's all they had and i couldn't wait 3 mos to order one. besides, 1.9% financing and pmt is only $320/mo from $500/mo on my tundra.... so it didn't matter much to me. i didn't want to pay less on the car and more for financing. when i looked at the BIG picture, the total number including finance charges, taxes, etc is what i cared about as well as the monthly payment. i didn't get the best deal, but i don't feel i got ripped off either.

In Nov 03, got my 2004 Vibe base with automatic, monotone, power package, 6 CD changer, ABS, protection pkg (side airbags & alarm).MSRP $20370Discounts: $1272 discount for "GM in the Driveway" certificate, $2000 factory rebate, $250 rebate for CA car tax hike, $3788 GM card, $400 recent graduate rebate. Total discount $7710 to end up at $12660.Out the door = $14300Also, the dealer I bought from has a lifetime free oil change, and free car wash. They also have free snacks and drinks (from soda and coffee vending machines) while I wait in the customer lounge. Those should be worth a few hundred dollars.
Sounds like I am the only one who didnt buy new. So not sure if mine counts or not. I didnt like the 2005 and this was the only Vibe NOT a 2005 on the lot. I really wanted new but I couldn't pass this one up..Anyways.. Base, Envy, no power stuff or moon and tunes, two tone, auto, '03. Bought used in '04 with 14,500 miles on the clock. Price: 12,500, the same as a similarly equipped brand new Kia but with better equipment and engineering, more power, more room, higher quality. Unless you've got a hardon to put the first mile on it or some such nonsense, there's no reason to buy ANY car new. I got an essentially new car with no flaws and low miles for three-quarters of the original purchace price. Am I missing something here? What's not to love?

I generally agree with you there, Slimer. I've bought used until now and feel I've done alright. But if you can get a deal on a new car that keeps your loan balance below the resale value, why not buy new? Knowing who the first owner is (me), plus having an extra 10-15K miles of warranty is reassuring.
As I always say, you gotta run the numbers. IMO the majority of people overpay for a used car. If a new car is $18,000 and a three year old used one with 45,000 miles is $12,000 I'll take the new one. Make it $9,000 and perhaps the used one starts to make sense.

I love the car, so I'm not complaining, but $8200? Even factoring in another $1000 for the ATX, that's a BIG difference!!Ouch.
i've only purchased 2 cars used. and had nothing but trouble. to me, having a full warranty (especially since i have to drive A LOT for my job) is well worth spending the little extra money. plus, w/ rebates and dealer incentives, it doesn't make sense for me to buy used. i can't afford having my car break down constantly and in the shop.
I got a two-tone Base Model with just the Sports Package (alum. wheels, upgraded stereo, moonroof.)With a $500 previous GM owner's rebate, and $1000 GM Grad Rebate, and some dickering, I got it down from $26110 to $24310. (Canadian Funds mind you!) With a 25% exchange rate, that works out to $19448 US Funds.
