Getting rid of AOL!

Post by wicked1981 »

Well had AOL for 3 years and always hated it going out in my area at least once a month for 1-5 days at a time, slow connection (even for dsl). Today I will be making the switch to Adelphia (local cable company) so hopefully since it will be cable it will be faster than my AOL dsl connection. I went to http://www.dslreports.com to test my connection compared to my brothers connection 15 miles away from same company and his was 4 times faster than mine .Goodbye AOL!

Good job I had AOL a long time ago and got rid of it after 2 months. way to restrictive. it might be nice for newbies but....Cable will amaze you, its fast like the commercials in this area Dial-up ----> tricycleCable -----> HARLEY DAVIDSONEnjoy!

AOL is by far the worst web browser in my opinion. It's way too cluttered and they charge you the same amount they would on a DSL connection. I'm lovin my DSL connnection right now. No problems as of yet. So, yeah.Inder Singh

Had Optimum Online here for a year or two now, would never even THINK of going back to DU!The speed is fantastic, and the reliability is unreal -- we've never had a major service disruption longer than 10-20 minutes!
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

I've had Comcast cable internet here for about a year now. I love it. Fast, reliable, competitvely priced ($44.95 per month if you also have digital cable).I had AOL as my first ISP for about a year in 1997-1998. It was terrible then and is even worse now. They should either perform a MAJOR overhaul of their systems and services or just pack up and go out of business.

Did the change and happy with it. I thought AOL DSL was fast but now I see the difference between cable and dsl. My upload speed incresed by almost 4x!! Now to transfer all my favorites from aol to IE .. Its worth it though.

Good choice!!!! Like stang, I also have Comcast, have had it since it was AT&T@home. Probably 4 or 5 years, it is well worth it.
