that's why I'm taking my Nitto's offMan you're telling me that they are just as worthless as the Nitto's in the Winter?Don't tell me that I have to go out and by some Goodyear Weatherwise. Now those are some good winter tires.
I have the Continentals on my Vibe and drove in 2 inches of snow just a few days ago. I have had all season tires on every one of my past vehicles too and the Continentals on my Vibe seem to perform just like every other car.Now of course, you may be used to the traction given with winter tires (Salsa), as I have never really driven a 'car' with winter tires. Winter tires are definately better than all-season. I wouldn't say the Continentals are really that bad in my opinion... as long as you watch your speed and judge good distance it will be fine.yank dini.. they will definately be ALOT better than the 18's.
Here winter are much harder then yours. You need to have suicidal tandencies to keep 4 seasons tire for winter here. The only advice I can give you, keep your 4 seasons tire, test it once or twice in your winter condition and then take a decision.

Mine are stock 16" Continentals and we've had a couple of 3"+ snows here (by Lake Ontario) in the last couple of days and I've had NO problem getting around.

We normally don't have consistent days of horrible winter driving like you probably do more up north. The roads are usually back to normal the next day after a storm.

quote: my 2 experience in light snowfalls with the Contis.... were not good....I have always tended to stay with all season tires, and living in michigan you get all that great "lake-effect" snow. 2 of my vehicles were S-10 pickups(2WD), so I am no stranger to bad handling in the snow. I purchased "Blizzack" snow tires a few years ago and noticed a substantial difference on icy, and slushy roads. Noticed a little difference in the snow, and a big difference in my wallet! The Contis are good tires for Michigan, but if you have an extra hundred dollars per tire to blow, or live in the UP or Canada be my guest.
Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others have labored hard for.
I still have the z rated dunlops that came with my vibe. We just got our first snowfall(only 2"), driving with these tires in snow is not a pleasurable experience. I just ordered a set of dunlop sp winter sport m2's with a set of 16" steel rims. Consumer reports gave them a very good rating, for snow tires they are supposed the be one of the best all-around.
2003 Lava Vibe GT.17''wheel package, 6spd, no sunroof.......oh well
Well Salsa. I put the 16's back on the Vibe on Saturday. And just in time too. As I write this we are getting 1-3 inches of snow today. As I originally expected, the Conti's held up pretty well for now.
