Hello All, How is everyone? I am a recent Vibe owner, had it less than a month, it's a fully loaded GT. First off, good luck to everyone with clutch problems, I hope I don't encounter them. Although I am not new to cars and racing I am new to the whole "impo"/ little motor sceen. In the past I have driven big cars with big motors ( Nova and a El Camino). I never pictured myself in a car like this but when I drove it I fell in love with it, not to mention my old man is a GM employee, so that keeps him off my back. ANYWAY...I want to do some mods, looked into a CAI but can't seem to find one for a GT on the site everyone is talking about. What I wanna do is to be able to run with other imports without spending 5 or 6 grand. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
what year do you have? that makes a big difference on cai available.also, what i'd suggest for us gt owners is this:1. cai (do this first)2. exhaust (magnaflow seems to have the best gains)3. unichip (ties it all together for the best gains and will help w/ the lower rpm torque)you can do all of it for under $1500 and gain about 20-25% in torque (where it's most needed) and still run about 215 + hp at the top end. i'm sure you can port and polish your headers, add motor mounts, etc.... to increase it, but it all adds up!
Welcome and congrats on your purpose. You should be able to find a CAI on Ebay. I know a ton of members have CAIs on their GT. You should be able to get a quick answer. Anyway, WELCOME!!

HUGE TIPlook for "toyota matrix XRS"(same as GT, its the VVTL-i 2ZZ engine) partsTRDvibe basically gave you the blueprint of what to do for something thats cheap and effective, about 215hp doesnt sound like alot but were in a car thats generally 400 pounds lighter then most cars on the road, as well as our tourqe and HP are most effecient around the same time unlike most cars, its important to be willing to take yoru GT to its max RPM (about 8300) when shifting from 1st to second it makes up to 2 seconds difference in the 0-60 from what ive tested (poor low 9s with shift around 8000 or lower, low 7s with shifts at 8250+)magnaflow is the best exhaust you can strait out buy, but if your willing to do custom piping other systems like Borla or GReddy EVO II can be better, but you have to get matching custom piping from axle back to exhaust manifopld, as well put in a better cat back(i think...), basically just get magnaflow unless your pretty hardcoreUnichip will help with low end off the line type power, its expensive at about 725 dollars, but has been dynod(by TRDvibe) to actually add up to 20% boost in low end RPMS, still the most tourqe and hp you will get will be between 6000-rev limiter, but it helps a engine that severly needs itHey TRD if you ever get the chance see i fyou can test yoru 0-60 or even 5-60, id be very interested in how much a difference it makes time wise,
