Hatch Door Tie Down

Hi all;I was just thinking about an idea that I don't know if anyone has mentioned here ... if you have a long item in the back that requires that the hatch remain open, how are people securing the door?I've clipped a bungee to the wiper pivot (probably not the best place to clip to), and to the latch catch on the floor. The thought I had was to suggest to Pontiac to add some sort of tie down point on the hatch (inside of door or even on the bottom of the door would be a good place for it.) If it was inside, it could be another metal ring or something.What are your thoughts?

A place to tie down on the hatch would be a good idea... When I have long stuff (a futon, for example), I actually just opened the glass in the hatch and put it through there, using bungees to hold the futon in.

i always used Kazig's solution on my VW golf...i haven't looked a the Vibe yet but it should be the same....use the trunk lock arm and hook into it facing back (re-stating the last post)

I'll try that out, I think I had problems with that the first time I looked at it. I guess it just didn't look obvious enough.

I had the same problem this past weekend when I was hauling 10ft. lengths of wood. I ended up closing the gate and popping open the window hatch with the wood sticking out. I've had 3 hatchbacks in the past, but the Vibe is the first without hooks/loops underneath the lower bumper. But I'll have to try your suggestions. Thanks!
