Hello everyone.I was wondering. What intake should I get? I really like the TRD, but I found a great deal on the AEM. Thanks for your replies.Inder Singh

Why the attachment to TRD? Just cuz of the brand? Would you have to change the banner on your windshield if you buy the AEM one? I have the Injen one. I love it.

That's funny. I dunno. The only thing bad I have ever heard about the TRD is that the CEL comes on. That's all. Haven't heard much from the other companies.Inder Singh

I really don't think there any difference between the top brands. Get the cheaper one.I got an Injen one on a group buy, so it was a good price.

I thought AEM didn't make CAI for the vibe only short ram.

the AEM cold air is better, both have the same body(metal tubing) in shape and diameter, but the AEM comes with a better air filter at the tip, making it BETTER!! by about 3hp

Haven't heard much from the other companies.Inder SinghI can vouch for AEM in that I've had not ONE CEL...the same cannot be said for TRD. Plus, AEM's blue anodized look is what I was after PS I also seem to remember AEM's dyno reflecting greater gains than Injen's. I believe ptuning has a copy of their dyno.PPS TRD has a habit of re-packaging (they'll call it endorsing or something) other brands and calling them TRD i.e. their springs are Eibach Pro-Kits, and I think I read somewhere that their exhaust was actually a Borla with a TRD tip (Hope, did I see you wright this somewhere?). It wouldn't suprise me if the same were the case with their CAI.-Christian

Injen...if only because they actually have a model that fits the Vibe specifically: PTRD2075 (GT) and PTRD7025 (Base/AWD). FYI, the Matrix models are PTRD2076 (XRS) and PTRD2065 (Base and XR).If I understand, the Vibe model is slightly shorter so that it will won't interfere with the fog lamps. Anyone with different info?

I have a 04 GT with a Injen CAI spec'ed for a 04 XRS. It fits. I had a CEL, but that was because of the hosing to the smog unit. I am very happy with the performance! Keely, Carrie, and I went in on a group buy. The 03 and 04 GT's needed some wrangling to get the CAI in place especially with that @#!$@!! smog unit. The CAI for Carrie's base Vibe pretty much installed itself -- I think Mike did it in 25 minutes.

I know how you feel. I did research for about two months, reading power curves, peoples opinions, problem logs, the works. But it seemed like the people's choice was Injen so I went with that over the K@N typhoon short ram. Haven't changed the filter yet so I will reserve judgement until then. But I do like the power increase, and the sound.

Okay. Well. From taking everyone's opinions, lookin up prices, and lookin at the dyno sheets, I have made my decision. I'm gonna go with the AEM CAI system w/ the bypass valve. I get this whole system for $230 shipped. I gettin the intake in red. Tryin to stick with the theme of red through my car. Thanks for all the help everyone, really appreciate it. Inder Singh.

The differences in HP are due to differing dynos and conditions (as in temp and car setup like exhaust).

Unless you plan on driving through 3 feet of water, it's not needed. The Vibe's splash gaurd does the trick.

I am 6'4 and that 3 feet is amost to my hip! I swear to you it was... i was only in it for about 15-20 seconds but it was high enough to leave water marks down the side of my car and also high enough to cause the leaves/sticks/trash that was floating in the water to get caught in the bottom grill and the water was higher than the bottom grill... i honestly thought that would be the end of my engine... a.k.a. hydrolock!

in order to hydrolock your intake, you'd have to stop in that water and let the entire filter soak up the water.... 15-20 seconds DRIVING thru it isn't going to do that. now if the water's OVER your hood, well that's a different story.
